How will you make an impact in this role?
Global Travel and Lifestyle Servicing (GTLS), is a key component of the value proposition of the American Express premium card products. GTLS is focused on delivering Travel and Lifestyle benefits which allow American Express to create differentiation and loyalty with premium Card Members!
Global Business Integration (GBI) is an organization dedicated to supporting and integrating business change into GTLS through change execution, project management and risk mitigation.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the issues and events management framework within GTLS. This role ensures that risk events are effectively identified, assessed, escalated, and remediated, and that regulatory and policy requirements are consistently met.
In addition, there will be a focus on establishing a robust foundation for issues and events governance, including timely root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and sustainable remediation. The focus will be to support GTLS in transitioning to a new approach to risk event management within the enterprise Operational Risk Management (ORM) framework.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead the oversight and ongoing assessment of issues and events within GTLS, ensuring timely identification, escalation, and resolution.
- Evaluate the root cause of risk events and partner with stakeholders to develop, implement, and track effective remediation and corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with various First Line and Second Line groups (Issue Management, LOBCO, etc) on the end-to-end lifecycle of issues, including documentation, governance, monitoring, and closure.
- Provide oversight and challenge for open risk, audit, and regulatory issues, ensuring resolution is sustainable and addresses underlying drivers.
- Assist in day-to-day strategic execution of GTLS’s transition to RCSA including ensuring end-to- end processes are documented, maintained and governed
- Provide risk management support and oversight for change activities (both business and regulatory change).
- Monitor adherence to American Express management policies (AEMPs), regulatory requirements, and internal standards.
- Facilitate the development of a strong risk culture throughout the enterprise, emphasizing risk awareness, accountability, and informed risk-taking within the bounds of the risk appetite
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of control issues and risk indicators to senior leadership.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across the business and control functions.
- Operate within a global role that requires adaptability and flexibility across time zones, and dynamic business needs
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ Years experience in Global Travel & Lifestyle Services & premium American Express Travel/Lifestyle/Card servicing
- Knowledge of operational risk management, control management, process governance, issues management, and/ or audits

- Strong understanding of operational risk, American Express management policies, internal controls, regulatory requirements, and governance frameworks.
- Strong understanding of / ability to use Archer proficiently
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to synthesize key messages and potentially influence diverse levels of stakeholders
- Strong analytical and critical thinking mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends and evaluate risk scenarios effectively
- Ability to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvements
- Highly developed leadership qualities with the ability to collaborate and influence in a matrix environment across functions and geographies
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners and other key stakeholders while setting expectations, collaborating, and influencing key strategies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field Temporary Work Assignment 6 Months
Minimum Qualifications
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
