As a Technical Specialist in E-Motors Mechanical Design, you will be at the forefront of innovation, shaping the mechanical architecture of electric propulsion systems for next-generation vehicles. This role offers the opportunity to lead design and development efforts across a variety of electrified propulsion platforms, including MHEVs, PHEVs, and BEVs. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence technical roadmaps, and contribute to the evolution of sustainable mobility.

  • Lead the mechanical design, manufacturing, and assembly of traction E-Motors for electrified automotive applications.
  • Develop specifications and mechanical concepts for various E-Motor topologies including LV/HV systems.
  • Provide technical guidance across E-Motor design aspects and support cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Conduct design assessments for both purchased and in-house E-Motor systems, ensuring alignment with standards and requirements.
  • Stay current with emerging E-Motor technologies through benchmarking and industry research.
  • Drive innovation in mechanical design and assembly processes to meet evolving vehicle performance needs.
  • Contribute to the development of the E-Motors technical roadmap and long-term strategic planning.

Your Roleas A Technical Specialist, You Will Be A Key Contributor To The Design And Development Of High-Performance E-Motor Systems. Your Expertise Will Help Shape The Mechanical Integrity And Manufacturability Of Components Critical To Electric Propulsion.

  • Design and analyze stator and rotor assemblies, including laminations, cores, housings, and sensors.
  • Apply mechanical principles and simulation tools to optimize performance and durability.
  • Lead prototyping and production efforts, ensuring design for manufacturability and assembly.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to validate mechanical structures and stress results.
  • Own the test-to-learn process, including data collection and analysis of mechanical performance.
  • Ensure compliance with GD&T standards and quality assurance protocols.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Your Skills And Experience

We’re looking for a highly skilled engineer with a passion for innovation and a deep understanding of E-Motor mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, hands-on experience, and collaborative spirit.

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and assembly of traction E-Motors.
  • Strong understanding of E-Motor subcomponents and their integration into complete systems.
  • Proficiency in mechanical analysis tools including FEA, simulation, and modeling.
  • Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, DRBTR, and DRBFM methodologies.
  • Knowledge of materials used in E-Motor components such as electrical steel, magnets, copper, and insulation.
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic, thermal, and NVH aspects of E-Motor design.
