Capgemini is seeking Enterprise level GCP Cloud Migration Architect (AWS to GCP) for a fulltime hybrid role in Chicago, IL. Ideal candidate should be local or willing to relocate. This is an immediate position and hence candidate should be willing to join without any visa sponsorship.

Your Role

  • Architecture & Migration Leadership
  • • Lead the end‑to‑end architecture and design for the migration from AWS to GCP.
  • • Assess current AWS infrastructure and applications to define migration strategies and roadmaps.
  • • Design scalable, secure, and cost‑efficient GCP architectures aligned with business goals.
  • • Define workload migration patterns (rehost, replatform, refactor) and cutover/rollback strategies.
  • • Translate AWS services to GCP equivalents (e.g., S3 -> Cloud Storage, EKS -> GKE).
  • Cloud Governance, Security & Compliance
  • • Establish cloud governance policies, naming conventions, and tagging standards.
  • • Implement security best practices for IAM, encryption, and network segmentation.
  • • Embed DevSecOps practices, including vulnerability scanning and compliance checks.
  • Platform Engineering & Automation
  • • Standardize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform/Terragrunt and integrate with CI/CD.
  • • Automate provisioning, configuration, and environment management.
  • • Maintain reusable IaC modules and enforce configuration‑as‑code principles.
  • Reliability, Observability & Operations
  • • Define observability standards: metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
  • • Partner with SRE/Operations for capacity planning and performance tuning.
  • • Optimize cloud costs through rightsizing, autoscaling, and FinOps practices.
  • Microservices & Containers Enablement
  • • Apply microservices patterns for scalability and security.
  • • Guide Kubernetes/GKE architecture and troubleshoot containerized workloads.
  • • Optimize container performance and implement rollout strategies (blue/green, canary).
  • Release, Environment & Quality Engineering
  • • Define environment promotion strategies and manage deployments/rollbacks.
  • • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to maintain quality gates.
  • • Implement security and compliance checks throughout the deployment process.
  • Collaboration, Leadership & Mentoring
  • • Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Application teams for smooth migration.
  • • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
  • • Estimate efforts and contribute to delivery planning.
  • Documentation & Transparency
  • • Maintain architecture design documents, migration playbooks, and runbooks.
  • • Document CI/CD processes, testing phases, and recommendations.
  • Post‑Migration Stewardship
  • • Monitor GCP environments post‑migration for performance and cost efficiency.
  • • Continuously optimize infrastructure and reduce technical debt. Qualifications

Your skills and experience

Must‑haves
• Proven Cloud Architect experience across GCP and AWS, with hands‑on AWS -> GCP migrations.
• Strong GCP knowledge (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, BigQuery) plus core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS/DMS, API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, Redis).
• Cloud networking, IAM/security, and monitoring/observability (Cloud Monitoring/New Relic/CloudWatch).
• DevOps/CI‑CD expertise with Git/GitHub Actions and IaC (Terraform/Terragrunt; Cloud Deployment Manager a plus).
• Containers & microservices: Docker, Kubernetes (EKS/GKE); autoscaling/HPA and load‑balancing fundamentals.
• Scripting: Python and Bash; solid Linux (RHEL/Amazon Linux/CentOS).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice‑to‑haves
• GCP Professional Cloud Architect (or equivalent cert).
• Deeper GCP services (e.g., Pub/Sub, GCE) and GitOps/Cloud Build familiarity.
• Identity & secrets management (K8s Secrets, AWS Secrets Manager, Vault) and K8s security (network policies, RBAC/IAM).
• API‑first delivery (REST/Swagger), build tools (Maven/Gradle), and Agile/Scrum exposure.
• Production support/SLA experience and participation in international technical forums/meetings.

Soft skills
• Problem‑solving, teamwork, adaptability under pressure; leadership to drive change/innovation; strong written and verbal communication.
