Job Description

This is a critical role focused on auditing thousands of medical billing codes to ensure proper reimbursement and optimize the practice’s financial performance. You’ll work systematically through historical billing data, identifying discrepancies that could recover significant revenue for the practice. Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive audits of CPT (medical billing) codes to ensure accurate reimbursement
• Analyze and match actual insurance payments against expected contract rates using Excel
• Identify unpaid, underpaid, or delayed reimbursements from insurance companies
• Generate detailed reports on payment discrepancies and outstanding claims
• Organize and maintain systematic records of all billing audits and findings
• Flag billing codes that require additional investigation or follow-up action
• Work methodically through one full year of historical billing data
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient and financial information

Requirements

• HIPAA certification required (must be obtained before start date)
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when working with numerical data
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data entry systems
• Previous experience with bookkeeping, data analysis, or financial record keeping preferred
• Strong ability to work independently and follow systematic processes
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reconciliation
• Reliable high-speed internet connection and dedicated quiet workspace
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage large datasets efficiently
