Wood is looking for an experienced certified Functional Safety Principal Engineer who has a good understanding of IEC 61511 SIS Lifecycle model and has working knowledge and experience of the key SIS Lifecycle activities.
This position will be hired on a limited contractor basis outside of IR35. The position will be based in Aberdeen on a Hybrid basis / remote working will be considered.
Scope Of Work
- Provide functional safety lifecycle management responsibility to ensure project compliance with client and Wood Functional Safety specifications and applicable code requirements and national/international standards.
- Serve as the project focal point on functional safety for project definition, development, and execution.
- Generate or review key functional safety documents including Functional Safety Plan, Functional Safety Management Procedures, Safety Requirement Specifications, SIS Impact Analysis, SIL Calculations, Emergency Depressurization & Blowdown Specifications, SIL Verification and Validation Procedures.
- Manage functional safety assessments, audits, security risk assessments and independent verification of lifecycle deliverables.
- Utilise exSILentia software for managing functional safety lifecycle activities.
- Track and control project manhours for functional safety activities.
- Conduct SIS verification and validation reviews according to project standards.
- Oversee integration of safety systems and ensure project compliance with IEC 61511.
- Ensure operator is supplied with the required documentation to allow the systems to be operated and maintained properly.
- Participate as functional safety expert in HAZOP / CHAZOP activities.
- Participate in Deterministic SIL Workshops as C&I Engineer.
- Knowledge of modelling of complex SIS Loops using FTA (Isograph).
- Develop, review and approve SIS Proof Test Procedures for end-to-end testing of SIF Loops.
- Coordinate with other disciplines in the preparation and development of the functional safety deliverables and ensure that other disciplines' input is incorporated.
What makes you remarkable?
Expected:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or instrumentation engineering.
- CFSE or TUV FS certified engineer.
- Significant experience in Brownfield upgrades / replacement automation and control projects.
- Knowledge of IEC 62443 and cybersecurity as applicable to functional safety is desirable.
- Ability to prioritise tasks effectively to manage multiple projects running concurrently.
- Hand on experience with exSILentia and/or aeShield software.
