Summary:

The Plant Engineer role supports bulk gas operations at the Linde Air Separation Plant in Phoenix, AZ, reporting directly to the Director of Operations, Linde PHX. This position is essential to maintaining the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility, with occasional travel to nearby regional sites.

Responsibilities include ensuring consistent production output while upholding rigorous safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The role involves both office and field work, requiring responsiveness to unplanned events and the ability to make technical decisions that optimize plant performance. Off-hours accessibility via laptop and cell phone is also part of the role’s operational scope.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide daily engineering and technical support to plant management, operators, and technicians.
  • Assess plant performance, identify opportunities for process optimization, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment issues, develop solutions, and follow through to implementation.
  • Execute small-scale projects at the facility, including scope definition, design, procurement, and commissioning.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Support and coordinate corporate and customer audits, as well as maintain QA documentation.
  • Partner with production teams to plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Help coordinate major outages, overhauls, and project work with central engineering, reliability, and capital project teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of process and equipment changes (eMOC, Variances, QA documentation, etc.).
  • Ensure all process safety information (PSI) related to plant activities is properly managed and updated.
 

Qualifications

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or related discipline)
  • Preferably 5+ years of relevant industry experience in operations, maintenance, or engineering.
  • Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and operational discipline.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with data analysis and reporting tools preferred.
  • Positive attitude, adaptability to changing priorities, and a strong desire to build productive relationships across functional groups.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience within industrial facilities.

Working Conditions:

  • Industrial facility environment with potential exposure to high noise and cryogenic gases.
  • Requires use of PPE and strict compliance with safety standards.
  • Availability for on-call duty, overtime, and emergency response when required.
