Textron Systems - ATAC provides adversary services for U.S. Navy, Marine and Air Force pilots. ATAC operates simultaneously across eight sites and two continents providing tactical airborne training to training units, fighter Squadrons, Air Wings, and Battle Groups. www.atacusa.com
Summary:
The Vice President of Special Missions will lead critical aerospace and aviation projects, ensuring operational excellence and strategic alignment with organizational objectives. The role involves overseeing large-scale programs, managing significant budgets, and coordinating cross-functional teams to achieve exceptional safety, efficiency, and mission success. This role also involves driving business development initiatives to grow the Special Missions department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage complex aerospace operations involving multiple aircraft, technologies, and personnel across various divisions.
- Strategically oversee a portfolio managing annual expenditures resulting in substantial cost savings while optimizing mission capabilities.
- Serve as a senior aviation official, representing the organization’s interests in military, federal and interagency aviation policy.
- Oversee and manage complex aircraft modifications to ensure delivery of assets to customers is on time and on budget.
- Drive organizational transformation by consolidating resources and streamlining processes to enhance productivity and capability.
- Develop and sustain partnerships with commercial vendors, federal agencies, and cross-functional teams.
- Ensure compliance with safety management systems, airworthiness standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks; implementing strategies to prevent mishaps and enhance operational safety.
- Manage acquisition and maintenance of aircraft and support technologies ensuring continuous operational readiness.
- Foster a results-driven team environment, encouraging innovation, strategic planning, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Drive business development efforts to grow the Special Missions department and expand its capabilities and reach.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in aerospace and technical management, with proven skills in operational excellence and safety management.
- 15+ years of experience in aviation operations, with significant experience in senior leadership positions within military or civilian operations.
- Significant background in federal aviation policy, organizational transformation, and cross-agency collaboration.
- Proven track record of achieving cost savings, managing large portfolios, and leading large teams.
- Expertise in aircraft operations, test and evaluation, and airworthiness management.
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities, with experience in both civilian and military environments.
- Eligible for TS/SCI clearance or ability to obtain such clearance.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor of Science in engineering, business, aerospace or related field.
- Former or current US military pilot.
- Specialized training in Navy Tactics (desired).
- Aircraft Test and Evaluation experience (desired).
Experience:
- 15+ years in aerospace operations with a track record of driving significant cost savings and productivity improvements.
- Senior leadership roles within commercial, federal agencies or the U.S. military, managing complex technical operations.
- Experience in managing emergency response capabilities and commanding large teams and equipment in high-stakes environments.
- Proven experience in business development, with a focus on growing department capabilities and reach.
- Background in flight operations in support of US DOD training or ISR operations.
