Senior Manager Enterprise Models, Model Risk

Lead independent validation of enterprise-wide models across capital, liquidity, stress testing, and financial crime 

Influence model risk governance and uplift practices across the Group 

Work with senior stakeholders and coach junior team members in a high-impact risk function

What’S The Role?

We’re looking for a technically strong and strategically minded Senior Manager to lead independent validations of enterprise models across Westpac Group. You’ll be hands-on in assessing model design, methodology, implementation, and documentation - ensuring alignment with policy and regulatory standards.

You’ll also play a key role in shaping the future of model risk, including the growing use of AI in enterprise models. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across diverse risk classes and influence how model risk is managed at scale

• This is a permanent fulltime role based in Sydney. 
• What do I need?
• To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
• Proven experience validating models in areas such as financial crime, liquidity, and stress testing
• Strong programming skills (SAS, SQL, R or Python)
• Ability to interpret regulatory standards and financial statements (including Pillar III reports)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Leadership experience and ability to mentor junior team members
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to challenge constructively
• Interest in the business application of models and emerging technologies like AI
