About The Role

To support the Southern Water Business by applying estimating and commercial skills to compile sound high standard tender submissions meeting tender deadlines. This role will also provide assistance to project management roles across the business looking at their contracts and deliverables. 

To work with the Commercial Manager and Construction Lead to analyse current performance, develop target cost estimates, quotes, variations and the benchmarking of activity costs across our current contracts and provide quality handover to our Contract Teams. Further insight into the role and duties are:

• Work with the Water business to develop contract rates and quantities for maintenance and construction activities
• Obtain tender documents. Review and assess tender opportunities or requests for quotation. Consider alternatives where allowed
• Assist in the submission of request for approval to prepare tender
• Prepare non-price attributes where required. Co-ordinate peer, commercial, risk and legal reviews as appropriate
• Obtain supplier and sub-contractor quotations. Confirm scope of work and item quantities. Where necessary, seek clarification from customer. Complete cost estimate working up from first principles.
• Contribute to the compilation of tender risk and opportunity registers.

About You

• A Trade or Engineering qualification is desirable 
• Hold a current Full NZ driving licence 
• The flexibility to be mobile when working on contracts/projects across NZ 
• Substantial experience as an Estimator in water/wastewater infrastructure construction projects
• High proficiency with MS Suite is necessary; exposure to Candy or Expert Estimator is an advantage
• Driven by a focus on results and excellence, with a high degree of autonomy and a sense of urgency
• Ability to evaluate, identify scope anomalies/complexities through simple and complex drawings
