At Meta Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience developing and shipping consumer electronics (ideally wearables) while considering a broad range of business and hardware requirements including materials, manufacturability, form factor, ergonomics, and integration of technologies on softgoods substrates. We are specifically looking for a candidate with a history partnering with suppliers in Asia to create novel devices.

  • Work across the full product development cycle to deliver mechanical and softgoods component/subsystem designs from concept to production
  • Manage suppliers for prototypes and production of parts
  • Ability to manage the schedule of your parts in concert with the full program schedule
  • Partner with a cross-functional team of engineers and researchers
  • Work with first and third party partners to advance TRL of component technology
  • This role may require international travel
  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field, or equivalent Product Design experience
  • 2+ years of experience developing high-volume consumer products or research electronics with stringent SWAP-C constraints in such as wearables, mobile devices, or similar
  • 3+ years experience in 3D CAD modeling (NX or similar)
  • Experience working cross functionally to rapidly prototyping new concepts
  • Experience designing for CNC, injection molding, die cutting, lamination, softgood integration
  • Experience developing wearable devices using elastomers and textiles
  • Experience managing component vendors
  • Experience planning and executing DOEs

$111,000/year to $131,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
