We are seeking a Director of Software Architecture to be part of the leadership team of SCA, and lead the strategy and execution of software systems architecture, aligned to our platform intent.  In addition to technical proficiency, this leader is expected to have strengths in building alignment, engagement, and collaboration across a cross functional organization, to ensure that architectural strategy is deployed successfully, and evolved to meet product, technology, and quality roadmaps. At the end of the day, this leader will be responsible for meeting business delivery, quality and cost expectations, while leading a diverse Systems Architecture organization through a transformative journey.
 

You Will…

  • Collaborate with fellow stakeholders to build architecture strategy to meet platform objectives, product needs, and corporate goals 
  • Lead a technical team in execution of the engineering and delivery of software architecture to consumers such as subsystem and component organizations, both internal and external to Ford 
  • Partner with functional directors, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams to ensure software architecture meets platform and application expectations 
  • Work with component software teams and outside suppliers as necessary to further elicit requirements 
  • Own the common “Bill of Design” for software for all domains i.e. the cross-domain centralized software requirements 
  • Determine and maintain the strategy for base software 
  • Act as a thought leader and key influencer in a robust software architecture that promotes maintainability and interoperability not only in initial production but for post-production over-the-air updates 
  • Develop and mentor a team of software experts, fostering technical excellence and leadership within the organization.
  • Drive process improvements that enhance engineering efficiency while maintaining the highest embedded software standards. 
  • Serve as the organization’s software representative in the implementation of actual software architecture  
  • Work with other architecture teams (ex: power, communications) to deliver a complete platform architecture  

You'Ll Have…

  • 12+ years of engineering experience in the automotive industry, with proven delivery track record in software architecture and implementation  
  • Deep expertise in software architecture and the necessary elements; knowledge of tradeoffs  
  • Proven leadership experience in establishing engineering methods, defining processes, and driving organizational change  
  • Strong ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives, directors, and engineering teams.  
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to integrate strategy into complex software and hardware systems.  
  • Exceptional communication and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate safety requirements into business objectives.  
  • Track record of successfully managing and growing a high-performing software team.  

You may also have…

  • Experience with Automotive Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architectures, technology, and methods  
  • Experience with standards for software architecture (ex: ISO42010), balancing methods (ex: ATAM)   
  • Strong understanding of embedded software, software stacks and software development methodologies and software development lifecycles  
  • Experience working with automotive domains, propulsion, ADAS, infotainment, Body, Chassis, connectivity
