At Open Cosmos we are solving the world’s biggest challenges from space. We provide end-to-end space mission services, from design and build through to launch and operations enabling businesses, governments and researchers access to more readily available information than ever before - are you ready for the challenge?
The Team
The Electronics team is where the magic happens - from power systems and
flight computers to comms boards and payload interfaces, they make sure
every mission succeeds. It’s creative, hands-on, and mission-critical work — solving tricky problems, testing every circuit, and making sure our satellites are ready to thrive in the toughest environment of all: space.
The Role
We're looking for a talented Electronics Engineer to take technical ownership of mixed-signal and high-speed electronics designs for our satellites. This is a hands-on, impactful role where you'll collaborate across disciplines to build robust, high-performance electronics destined for orbit.
From capturing requirements and firmware development to signal integrity testing and on-site fault finding — you’ll be at the heart of the full electronics lifecycle.
What you'll be doing
- Own and develop electronics designs for space applications
- Cross-discipline collaborate between Systems, Mechanical, and Software teams to work toward design solutions and capture and refine requirements
- Optimise and improve existing designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturability
- Assist in the development & testing of high-speed signal architectures
- Develop firmware for microcontrollers (C++, Rust a big plus)
- Collaborate with the Software team for seamless integration
- Conduct on-site testing and fault-finding of flight hardware
Skills you’ll need to be successful
- Degree in Electronics Engineering (or related field)
- Proven capability in mixed-signal design layout practices
- Strong grasp of signal integrity, EMC, and power electronics
- Familiarity and use of serial comms protocols
- Appreciation of designing for extreme environments (especially space)
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Strong sense of technical ownership and initiative
- Skilled in cross-disciplinary collaboration
- Attention to documentation and detail
- Ability to manage time and priorities under pressure
Why Join Open Cosmos?
At Open Cosmos, you won’t just build satellites — you’ll help solve real-world problems through space data. You’ll join a diverse and driven team that’s passionate about using space to make Earth better.
