Job Summary
The Director of Nursing provides nursing and administrative duties to the Pre Op, OR and PACU areas. The position is also responsible for directing and coordinating all clinical activities, resources and personnel at Advanced Surgical Center. The Director of Nursing coordinates the facility’s preparation for AAAHC accreditation, OSHA, HCFA, and State rules and regulations. Serves the facility as the specialty resource for the current standards of regulatory agencies that apply. Performs utilization review, performance improvement and staff education. Oversees infection control and employee health. Maintains the survey readiness for facility in between surveys.

Position Requirements
Licenses or Certifications: Current licensure to practice in the State of Texas. Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support course; ACLS and CNOR preferred and PALS if applicable.
Education, Vocational Training and Experience: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor degree required; Master degree preferred. Significant experience in clinical nursing is required. Preferred a minimum of three years supervisory experience in a healthcare related organization. Current experience in ambulatory surgery is required. Materials management experience is preferred. Must have the ability to manage multiple perioperative areas and operations.

- Candidates must have knowledge and experience with AAAHC and/or JAHCO.

- Team adherence to established facility safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Must be able to assess, plan, evaluate and ensure the implementation of the patients care achieves identified outcomes.
- Interviews, selects and retains qualified clinical staff to meet facility needs.
- Assures replacement of marginal staff members before having negative impact on peers.
Essential Position Requirements
A. Job Knowledge
- Provides clinical and operational expertise for the ASC
- Recommends/develops services and programs consistent with and appropriate to the ASC environment
- Collaborates with physicians, managers and team members to identify innovative programs that will impact on growth, quality and/or efficiency of each facility
- Assists in the development of annual goals and objectives of the ASC, ensuring the goals are appropriate and mutually beneficial to the ASC
- Collaborates with nurse managers and clinical personnel to develop goals and objectives specific to nursing but consistent with the direction of the facility
- Communicates/interprets annual goals and objectives to nursing management and team members to ensure understanding of differing and/or similar goals at the ASC
- Monitors goals and objectives and program implementation, reporting progress to the Administrator
- Develops, implements and coordinates physician recruitment and retention plan to ensure growth
- Collaborates with the Administrator to create, update, interpret and enforce personnel policies and procedures
- Collaborates with nursing managers and team members to develop operating room and recovery room standards of care, job descriptions, performance standards, orientation programs, continuing education programs and evaluation tools

Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse license to practice in the State of Texas.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
· Cnor Preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Surgical nursing and operating room experience required.
- Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in healthcare related organization preferred.

Physical Conditions:
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to bend, stoop and stretch
- Must be able to move stretchers and other medical equipment.
- Must be able to transfer patients with proper body mechanics and lift other items weighing up to 25 pounds.
