Systems Engineer (at the rank of IT Officer)

Systems Engineer (at the rank of IT Officer) in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Ref: 533169) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Key Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess a university degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in embedded system development and circuit design, preferably in a field related to higher education or professional engineering services, and prior experience in cloud server setup and maintenance.

• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).
• Proficiency in embedded system programming using C, C++ and Python, etc. Prior experience in embedded system development to cloud using STM32, ESP32, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or Jetson Nano is a plus. 
• Ability to multi-task and work independently under pressure; self-motivated, attentive to details, and a good team player.

Key Responsibilities

The appointee will provide high-level administrative support to one or more functions of the Department, including:

• Assisting in developing and implementation of IT strategies aligned with Department development goals;
• Designing and documenting scalable, secure, and efficient architectures for data, applications, and technology systems;
• Developing processes for seamless integration and interoperability of systems, ensuring consistency and reliability;
• Establishing and enforcing technical standards and best practices, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective use of tools;
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to design and implement enterprise architecture solutions;
• Performing duties as assigned by the Head of the Department or his/her delegate.
