As a member of the strategic communications team, the student should be prepared to commit approximately 10-15 hours per week during normal business hours, but flexibility is required for evening events.Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

The student must have excellent writing and editing skills. He or she should also have good office practices and procedures including the ability to organize, prioritize work, deal with multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Successful candidates will possess:
- Digital content creation experience across varied platforms.
- Photography and videography experience including capturing, editing, and processing.
- Visual arts or graphic design training/experience.
- Ability to write clear, concise, engaging content.
- Social media savvy with attention to audience and channel is a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience or willingness to learn various software and web-based platforms: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe products, WordPress, and e-mail applications.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Goal A: 75% Digital Content Creation. Assist the strategic communications team with the following: A1. Creation of digital content for the Institute, Centers, Departments (APO, Professional Programs) and Institute initiatives/programs. This may include photography, video, multimedia design, and writing. A2. Attend Nelson events and capture photography and/or video to support digital content creation and amplify across platforms. A3. Take a lead in building a library of faculty/staff head shots and “in-the-field” photos.
Goal B: 10% Social Media Coordination. B1. Assist in writing and curating content for the Nelson Institute social media platforms. B2. Develop and maintain social media editorial calendar. B3. Monitor metrics across platforms and work with strategic communications team to tailor message, select channel, and frequency.
Goal C: 10% Writing and Web Support. C1. Take a lead in writing and publishing within Word Press quick-turn stories that highlight faculty awards, grants, research, etc.
Goal D: 5% Miscellaneous Support. D1. Other duties as needed to support the priorities and projects assigned by the strategic communications team.
