What are the duties and responsibilities?

• Disseminate of scholarship information and supply school-to-career guidance 
• Interpret standardized test scores 
• Develop guidance curriculum and provide student resources 
• Counsel individual students 
• Work with students one-on-one, in a private setting with teachers and parents, or with peers in a group assembly or discussion forum. 
• Document all topics covered during counseling session 
• Inform appropriate staff of anything stated during counseling that needs tobe reported 
• Display a friendly, positive nurturing attitude toward students, parents and staff 
• Attend any required meetings for the students 
• Be engaged with the students at all times 
• Maintain positive relationship with school building employees, classroom aides, TSS personal and school administrators 
• Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth 
• Understand responsibility as a mandated child abuse/neglect reporter according to PA State Law 
• Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the organization at all times 
• Other duties as assigned by the Classroom Instructor or the Education Director or other administrators 

What are the required qualifications?

• Must possess one of the following criteria: 
• Willingness to go through (and pass!) the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: four clearances, mandated reporter training, a physical and TB test.
• Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.
• Certified school counselor 
• Licensed social worker 
• School social worker 
• Certified/licensed therapist 
• School psychologist 
• Psychologist
