The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President & CIO, the Portfolio Manager, Investment Platforms Support will play an integral role in providing support and coaching to teams with respect to portfolio management trade platforms and providing input & support for the onboarding of WAPW Advisors to the discretionary platform and future technology platform improvements or roll outs.

The Portfolio Manager, Investment Platforms Support will act as a primary point of contact for Advisors and back-office staff regarding investment platform support and be responsible for providing direct support and training to new and existing Portfolio Managers regarding the usage of the platform to build portfolios and models, conduct re-balancing and other trade functions, reporting, platform set-up, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Acting as firm Subject Matter Expert on the Envestnet trading platform.
  • Providing training guidance on modeling, portfolio construction, and trading processes to existing and new Advisors when on-boarding onto the Envestnet platform.
  • Working closely with discretionary portfolio managers as an expert in the use and application of portfolio management and trading systems and strategies.
  • Serving as a key resource for discretionary advisors in designing and implementing portfolio models and executing model changes and rebalancing trades.
  • Educating Advisors on platform functionality and best practices to maximize user satisfaction and adoption.
  • Delivering trade system overviews and demos to existing, prospective and transitioning PM teams and Business Development to support firm growth and ensure seamless transitions to the Envestnet platform.
  • Participating in and design training sessions and contribute to knowledge base articles and user documentation.
  • Gathering feedback from users and make suggestions for process improvement or taking system enhancements, bugs and other issues to Envestnet for possible change and improvements.
  • Assisting in the integration of teams, custodians, and vendor enhancements to improve trade processes and system functionality
  • Aiding in troubleshooting issues related to data feeds, custodial interfaces, reconciliation, and portfolio management tools.
  • Developing program and practice management policies, procedures and collateral and work directly with APM/PM teams to adopt and implement portfolio management best practices.
  • Best Practice support for model development, reporting, trading and integration into Envestnet and future trade platforms.
  • Implementing portfolio management best practices - focused on operational efficiencies and cost reductions.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • A degree or diploma in business administration, accounting, finance or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Completion of applicable securities industry courses offered by the Canadian Securities Institute including Canadian Securities Course, and the Conducts and Practices Handbook Course.
  • Successful completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program and/or Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation.
  • 10+ years’ financial services industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in portfolio management, risk management, and trading.
  • Policy and practice management experience in a private client/retail advice setting.
  • Thorough understanding of Securities Industry products, capital markets, financial instruments, and investment strategies.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with portfolio management and risk modelling systems.
  • Current licensing as a Registered Representative (RR) with CIRO under the Portfolio Manager category or as an Advising Representative (AR) under the Portfolio Manager category or ability to become licensed.
  • A commitment to fulfilling Continuing Education (CE) requirements.
  • Proficiency with Envestnet.
  • Proficiency with the MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day-to-day work and long-term goals.
  • Ability to develop and communicate on complex financial products/strategies.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and influencing skills; an ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, across multiple mediums (in-person, over the phone, and virtually).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity; highly adaptive and able to manage a large volume of competing priorities.
  • Effective critical thinking and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and aim to succeed, demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times.

Conditions Of Employment:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to travel within Canada up to 10% of the time as is operationally required.
