Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
A successful candidate will become part of the Universal Studios Hollywood Finance team supporting the Park’s Attractions and Operations departments. These departments play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the theme park, ticket sales, and back of house functions as well as the operation of attractions. This role will participate in all financial aspects, owning the day-to-day expense management, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting responsibilities. A successful candidate will need to be a valuable resource supporting business partners with guidance, reporting, and analysis to deliver on key business unit objectives.
This role carries significant exposure to finance and operations leadership teams with opportunities to identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies, driving value within finance and the business unit.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting, Budget Preparation and Analysis:
- Maintain the operating budgets and forecasts for Attractions and Operations
- Track weekly/monthly spending against budget and partner with operating managers understand trends
- Prepare weekly/monthly performance packages for senior leadership addressing budget variances, cash position, and status of current projects
- Prepare annual operating plan, monthly forecasts and latest estimates
- Prepare monthly position update for senior leadership
- Perform monthly financial close duties including posting journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Develop and implement financial processes while providing financial coaching to operators
Support Business Partners:
- Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis for operators and finance
- Lead regular financial update meetings with operators
- Review and approve purchase requisitions and invoices, ensuring proper accounting and budget allocation
- Work with controllership and financial planning & analysis teams to ensure proper accounting of department expenses
Ad Hoc Analysis And Reporting:
- Perform in-depth analysis on financial performance and key business drivers, including regression and correlation analyses that provide meaningful recommendations and drive key business decisions
- Lead/assist with special projects to improve internal financial processes, develop key performance metrics, create efficiencies, and support operators
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business/accounting/finance or related field
- 1-4 years Finance experience with progression
- Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
Desired Characteristics
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with SAP strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude and leadership qualities with the ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills to quickly resolve unique and challenging issues/concerns
- Ability to operate in a cross-functional team environment and foster positive relationships with colleagues
- Ability to maintain a big picture perspective as well as be detail-oriented
