Job Summary:

Supervise the delivery of the project to ensure the project is delivered to scope, quality, time and budget within the Business’ objectives for Safety, Security and Environmental standards.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supports the implementation of the project-level safety management program for assigned area(s).
  • Provides specialized safety input to engineering, construction, and contracts, thus ensuring that safety requirements are properly integrated into project planning, design criteria, construction plans and specifications and contracts.
  • Providing assistance to project and construction management in implementing and complying with project WHS requirements and in addressing safety/health issues as they arise during project execution.
  • Leads meetings with customer, project team members, and contractors to advise them of safety requirements that may affect project design, schedule, and cost.
  • Providing technical support and assistance directly to construction management and contractors in planning and executing field activities in accordance with the project safety requirements.
  • Conducts safety inspections of project construction activities to monitor compliance with safety requirements including contractual commitments, permits, the project’s ES&H plan, and other applicable safety plans.
  • Coordinates a wide variety of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) disciplines to facilitate implementation of ES&H program and ES&H Management System, including aiding compliance with ES&H standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and contractual commitments 
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities 
  • Maintains ES&H databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions 
  • Performs statistical analysis of ES&H data to identify performance trends and contributing factors as part of continuous improvement and makes recommendations accordingly 
  • Leads teams in conducting risk assessment, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ES&H issues 
  • Prepares communications, writes reports, and prepares documents for program execution and records retention 

Education And Experience Requirements:

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety (WHS)
  • White Card – mandatory for all construction sites
  • First Aid, Manual Handling, and Incident Investigation training are often valued
  • ICAM or TapRoot Certificate preferred. 

Required Knowledge And Skills:

  • 2–5+ years in Work Health and Safety (WHS), ideally within construction or infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to airport environments or other high-risk, regulated sites is highly desirable
  • Experience supporting:
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk assessments, and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
  • Ability to conduct site audits, hazard identification, and incident reporting
  • Proficiency in safety documentation, compliance tracking, and training coordination
  • Excellent communication for engaging with contractors, stakeholders, and regulators
  • Permit-to-work systems (e.g. PEMAC)
  • High-risk construction activities (e.g. working at heights, confined spaces, hot works)
  • Contractor inductions, toolbox talks, and site inspections
