What You’Ll Do

  • Ensure all kitchen areas are clean, hygienic, and well-maintained
  • Support chefs and kitchen staff with basic food prep and equipment cleaning
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling procedures
  • Maintain stock of cleaning supplies and kitchen essentials
  • Uphold health and safety standards at all times
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver a seamless service

Job Description

  • 🌟 Your Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesAs a Kitchen Porter at Greenmeadow Community Farm, you’ll be a vital part of our culinary team, helping to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
  • Dishwashing Dynamo – Keep our kitchen sparkling by washing dishes, utensils, and equipment by hand or using industrial dishwashers
  • Kitchen Cleanliness Champion – Clean and sanitise surfaces, prep areas, and countertops to the highest hygiene standards. Empty bins and manage waste responsibly
  • Prep Assistant Extraordinaire – Support our chefs with basic food prep tasks like peeling, chopping, and slicing fresh, seasonal ingredients
  • Inventory Sidekick – Help receive, store, and organise kitchen supplies and ingredients so everything’s in its place when needed
  • Safety Star – Maintain a clean, organised kitchen and ensure all equipment is in good working order, supporting a safe and efficient environment

Qualifications

  • 🌟 Who You Are – What You’ll Bring to the TeamWe’re looking for someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and dive into the fast-paced, rewarding world of farm-based hospitality. You don’t need formal qualifications—just the right attitude and a willingness to learn!✅ No formal education required – though a high school diploma or equivalent is a bonus 💪 Physically fit – able to stand for long periods and lift heavy items with ease 🎯 Detail-driven – you notice the little things and follow instructions carefully 🍳 Kitchen-savvy – basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and hygiene practices is a plus 🤝 Team player – great communication and a collaborative spirit are essential
