Vermont State University Online seeks an adjunct instructor to teach a 3-credit Psychology course during the Spring 2026 semester between 3/16/2026-5/3/2026.  The course will be taught 100% online using Canvas.

POSITION: Part-time, Adjunct Instructor

RESPONSIBILITIES: VTSU Online uses Canvas and provides a generic course template for all courses. The instructor is responsible for adding outcomes, academic materials, discussion and assignment that support the course description. Additionally, VTSU Online instructors are obligated to adhere to the VTSU Online Standards that address instructor presence, student engagement, instructor expectations, and assessment of student work.

Course Description:

This course explores how people think about, influence and relate to one another. Topics include attitudes, norms, aggression, conformity, attraction, prejudice, group processes, altruism, conflict resolution, persuasion and impression formation. Concepts are broadly applied to understanding the self and interpersonal relationships, as well as to social issues of importance, such as war and peace, consumer behavior and political strategy.

Qualifications:

For consideration, candidates must possess at least a master's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience. Experience in online teaching is essential, and familiarity with Canvas desired. Experience in teaching adult learners is required.

Candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, academic transcript, and statement of commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.  Compensation is dependent upon online teaching experience (within and outside of the Vermont State Colleges System) and bargaining unit status; the starting range is between $1000-1250 per credit.
