Department Overview:
MRI provides governance and control of Nomura’s Market Risk Management department.  Core activities relate to procedural management that ensures the Regulatory Compliance of our European entities.  Supervision of the end to end production of VaR, Stressed VaR, IRC, CRM, Stress Scenarios and similar processes in line with the terms of Nomura’s IMA permission waiver.  Delivery of management, capital and regulatory reporting in line with firm wide governance and regulation.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Market Risk Infrastructure (MRI) Associate to join our team responsible for supervising the end-to-end daily production of key market risk exposure metrics and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role involves working closely with Risk Managers, Front Office, and other stakeholders to maintain market risk controls and reporting.

  • Participate in Projects and Enhancements initiatives
  • Execution of MRI business processes in line with Nomura’s Market Risk policies and procedures to include but not limited to; daily sign off / adjustments / Market Risk add-ons / NHI capital assurance
  • Delivery of continual process improvements to address procedural control gaps
  • Monitoring of the service levels / issues / problems encountered with the Risk Infrastructure used to produce the Market Risk Metrics with Production Services team.
  • Stakeholder management / establish peer relationships with the Market Risk Management team and Global MRI teams
  • Understanding of early escalation and controls for daily decisions
  • Monitor and apply daily market risk adjustments in risk systems (Monju/RDS/UDW)
  • Perform initial checks on risk calculation outputs and investigate any anomalies
  • Track completion of node sign-offs and follow up on breaches of deadlines
  • Monitor IMA scope exceptions and coordinate resolution with relevant parties
  • Run daily checks on regulatory compliance including rating risk monitoring
  • Assist in preparation of regulatory reports including:
  • Ensure timely submission and accuracy of all regulatory filings
  • Deliver high-quality MRI reporting and data visualization solutions for stakeholders.
  • Generate weekly reports and monitor exceptions
  • Prepare weekly / monthly reporting for risk committees
  • Conduct analysis on risk metrics and provide commentary on significant movements
  • Maintain documentation of procedures and controls
  • Track and escalate unresolved issues according to established protocols
  • Support process improvements and automation initiatives
  • Liaise with IT teams on system issues and enhancements
  • Collaborate with Market Risk Managers, Technology, Business, and other teams on various Enhancement initiatives or FO initiated migration/ new Product or trades.
  • Review of all risk model changes and parameter updates for the region and communicate with RMs on the impacts, key drivers and changes.

Skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge required:

  • Degree (or equivalent) preferably within a quantitative subject, postgraduate degree or relevant professional qualifications (e.g. CFA, FRM and CQF) preferable.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial services particularly dealing with market risk management, data governance, data quality assurance
  • Knowledge of risk management methodologies (e.g. VaR, Risk Capital, Stress Testing) 
  • Project/program management, stakeholder management
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proactive and motivated
  • Time management and deadline driven
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders
  • Knowledge of banking regulations (Basel framework, FRTB etc)
