Job Description
- AECOM is seeking a Transportation Decarbonization Project Management Director to be based in Los Angeles, CA
- Position Details
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for complex, large-scale transportation decarbonization and transit projects in the transportation sector, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and client expectations.
- Oversee and manage all phases of project delivery, from initial planning and proposal preparation through execution and close-out, ensuring quality outcomes, financial performance, and client satisfaction.
- Lead multi-disciplinary project teams of 10 or more members, including remote personnel and subcontractors, fostering collaboration across business lines and geographic locations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships to ensure effective communication, address challenges, and exceed client expectations.
- Develop project strategies and plans, incorporating risk assessments, resource allocation, and innovative solutions to ensure successful execution.
- Negotiate and manage project contracts, including scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and deliverables, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and resolve complex technical, logistical, and operational issues, leveraging expertise and collaboration to mitigate risks and drive efficiency.
- Monitor and report on project progress, financial performance, and key performance indicators, ensuring alignment with established goals and metrics.
- Promote a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement throughout all project phases.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to project teams, cultivating talent and fostering professional development.
- Actively contribute to business development by preparing competitive proposals, responding to RFPs, and contributing to strategic growth initiatives within the Ports and Marine business line.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of leadership.
- Motor Vehicle Check will be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Construction Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 14 years of experience in construction project management, including leadership roles within the Transportation industry.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large, complex projects with significant financial impact.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams across multiple locations and disciplines.
- Strong negotiation skills with experience in preparing and managing contracts.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software, including scheduling, budgeting, and reporting platforms.
- Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices in Ports and Marine construction.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues and make data-driven decisions under pressure.
- Strong client relationship management skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement and maintaining client satisfaction.
- Willingness to travel as required to support project needs and client engagements.
