As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and proactive Group Fleet Maintenance Manager to ensure our fleet operates to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and compliance.

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Group Fleet Maintenance Manager to join Lockwood Haulage Ltd. This is a key leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective management of our fleet across the Lockwood Group of Companies.

Based at Ambergate, you will oversee maintenance, servicing, and compliance for all vehicles – from HGVs and trailers to company cars – ensuring they operate to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and legal compliance. The role requires regular travel across our Group sites, and a hybrid company car will be provided as part of your benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure legal compliance with all road transport regulations and Operators Licence obligations.
  • Oversee vehicle inspections, servicing, MOTs, breakdown processes, and tyre management across all sites.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure prompt resolution of vehicle defects.
  • Advise Directors on fleet replacement strategies and sustainable vehicle procurement.
  • Manage fleet budgets, monitor costs, and negotiate with suppliers for best value.
  • Build strong relationships across sites, ensuring consistent standards and practices.
  • Manage the Michelin Connected Fleet system, using data insights to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Transport Manager CPC (preferred)
  • HGV Licence 

Experience

  • Strong knowledge of the road haulage industry, fleet maintenance standards, and relevant regulations (VOSA, DVSA, Health & Safety).
  • Previous experience in fleet or transport management.
  • Technical and mechanical understanding of HGVs and fleet vehicles.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong IT and numerical ability.
  • Organised with good time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a wider management team.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
