Job Description

Job Summary:

The Project Management Officer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all design and construction projects related to the development of restaurants and retail stores under the Fredey Group of Companies. This role ensures that all construction projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with brand standards and safety regulations. They work closely with architects, contractors, designers, procurement, and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality, operationally efficient store environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management Skills: The ability to effectively plan, execute, and close projects is crucial. This includes proficiency in project management and a deep understanding of the project lifecycle. A successful candidate will be skilled in developing project schedules and coordinating with multiple teams and external contractors. They should also possess strong risk management and problem-solving abilities to handle unexpected issues that arise during a project.

Technical Knowledge of Building Systems and Codes: A strong grasp of building systems—including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural elements—is required to oversee the design and construction process. The Project In-Charge must also be knowledgeable about local and national building codes, fire safety regulations, and zoning laws to ensure all projects comply with legal standards. This knowledge is critical for preventing costly delays and ensuring the safety and functionality of the restaurant.

Vendor and Contractor Management: The role involves a lot of coordination with external partners. A key requirement is the ability to source, vet, and manage vendors, suppliers, and contractors effectively. This includes negotiating contracts, monitoring their performance, and ensuring they meet deadlines and quality standards. Strong negotiation and communication skills are vital for maintaining productive relationships and resolving any conflicts that may arise.

Soft Skills: Communication and Leadership: Beyond technical and managerial skills, the ability to communicate clearly and lead a team is paramount. The Project In Charge acts as the central point of contact for architects, engineers, operations managers, and senior leadership. They must be able to articulate project goals, provide regular updates, and motivate team members to achieve shared objectives. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are also necessary to keep complex projects on track.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is essential.
  • Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of experience in project management, with a significant portion of that time spent on commercial or retail projects, particularly those involving new construction or restaurant renovations.
  • A strong grasp of building systems—including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural elements—is required to oversee the design and construction process.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of design principles, building codes, safety standards, and construction practices
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Asana, or Monday.com)
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
