About Palmstreet:
Palmsteet is a community-obsessed live shopping platform connecting over 2 million passionate collectors and sellers. Starting with plants in 2020, we've evolved to include handmade crafts, collectible toys, and unique finds from talented sellers worldwide.
Backed by top Silicon Valley VCs (a16z, Craft Ventures, Headline), we're building the 'World's Online Main Street'—bringing authentic personal connections and the thrill of discovering one-of-a-kind treasures to social online experiences.
With explosive growth over the past 24 months, we're scaling rapidly and looking for exceptional talent to join us in shaping the future of social commerce.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and people-focused HR Generalist to join our fast-moving and growing team. This person will bring 4+ years of startup HR/People Ops experience and a strong foundation across payroll, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration.
The role is central to keeping our HR/People operations running smoothly while fostering a positive workplace culture. Beyond day-to-day HR, you will take ownership of employee lifecycle processes and compliance.
We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable switching contexts across multiple priorities, and can independently drive projects from start to finish with full ownership.
Responsibilities:
- Own the full employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance: onboarding, contracts, visa/work authorization, and off boarding
- Act as the first point of contact for employees, supporting inquiries, workplace culture, engagement touch points, and conflict resolution
- Handle payroll, commission payouts, benefits programs, 401(k), and open enrollment; partner with Finance on evolving processes.
- Drive performance management cycles and employee development initiatives
- Maintain and expand resources in the Employee Wiki to support employees and managers
- Manage HR systems and vendor relationships across Rippling, Deel, Guideline, and other tools, keeping records accurate and processes efficient
- Maintain and evolve HR policies, SOPs, and documentation in line with labor laws and company needs
- Be responsible for accurate HR record keeping and reporting to meet compliance and audit requirements
- Collaborate with Legal on employment law matters
Qualifications:
- 4 + years of HR/People Ops experience in a fast-paced startup environment
- Solid understanding of HRIS, ATS, PEO, payroll, benefits admin, background checks, compensation benchmarking, and project management tools
- Experience with multi-state and international employment practices
- Familiarity with our HR tech stack: Rippling, Ashby, Deel, Notion, Pave, Slack, G-Suite, DocuSign, Ramp, Guideline
- Comfortable moving between strategic projects and tactical tasks
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take full ownership of functional areas
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust at all levels
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and discreet, with strong judgment in handling sensitive matters
- Humble, approachable, and curious by nature
Your Location:
- Los Angeles or SF Bay Area with a hybrid work schedule of 1-3 days in office each week
Compensation:
- Pay Range: $100,000 - $120,000
The pay range for this role is determined by job-related factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and current market data. This specific compensation estimate is based on the ranges for Tier 2 locations (e.g. Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin). Compensation ranges may be modified in the future to adjust for updated market data.
In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes:
