This attorney will manage and oversee the litigation & L&E workstream and all matters affecting legal risk, including claim prevention, management, and handling of all claim/litigation/arbitration matters. This attorney should have L&E expertise with the general ability to effectively oversee (and directly handle, as appropriate) all types of risk and litigation affecting the business. Additionally, s/he will provide support on a variety of advice work, including partnering on policies, guidelines, training and other initiatives aimed at increasing legal compliance and reducing risk.
The position will own the management, budget and strategy of the Company’s litigation workstream. S/he requires an effective self-starter with a practical approach, a panoramic perspective, and an eye for detail who can manage multiple competing priorities in an increasingly fast-paced environment. This person will regularly interact with executives and present on risk and strategy. S/he reports to the Paradies Lagardère VP & Deputy General Counsel.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Oversee the business aspects and strategic vision of the claim and litigation workstream.
- Manage personally and through a team the handling of all pre-litigation and litigation matters in close partnership with internal business partners and outside counsel (as necessary), including employment, commercial litigation, class action, and general commercial liability matters.
- Oversee partnership with internal and external resources on all matters affecting risk, such as complaints, investigations, demands, tenders of defense, and the like.
- Oversee general advice, training, and claim prevention strategies related to employment law issues for the organization, including drafting and reviewing company policies, procedures and practices, developing training, and implementing strategies to comply with updates to rules, laws, and regulations in multiple jurisdictions across North America.
- Provide legal support for union strategy and related matters, including assistance in drafting and negotiating collective bargaining agreements and labor peace agreements, responding to union grievances/arbitrations, and management of any labor-related administrative agency claims.
- Support management of relationships with brokers and insurance carriers on CGL, EPLI, D&O, Cyber, and Workers Compensation coverage, including assisting in insurance coverage issues, assignment of counsel under applicable policies, and updates to policy endorsements.
- Assist General Counsel, Compliance Manager, and others in executing compliance initiatives, including input into Enterprise Risk Register, anti-corruption and anti-bribery training for the organization, as well as all future compliance initiatives assigned.
- Own risk strategy of company, reserve setting/budget activities for workstream, and reporting to auditors, executives, and parent company.
- Drive long-term strategic initiatives to reduce company risk while balancing business needs.
Position Requirements:
- JD degree from an accredited law school with strong academic performance. Active and in good standing with at least one state bar (Georgia preferred).
- 10+ years of recent, relevant, proven legal experience with a major law firm and/or in-house.
- Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, MS Office, Powerpoint, etc.) and Relativity (or a similar ediscovery platform).

- Highly motivated, self-starting, and experienced advocate who enjoys working cooperatively on a small legal team.
- Extremely well organized, detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines and work in a demanding, fast paced environment and able to solve, in a practical fashion, problems quickly and effectively.
