Objectives of the Position          

• Having expertise in managing Testing Services for automotive coatings, expert in analytical chemistry and equipment management
•  Leading Automotive Coatings Testing services that include short term quality certification tests, long term accelerated weathering tests, analytical chemistry and material characterization - On Time, On Cost and On Quality
• Drive digitalization and automation in automotive coatings testing in line with EC objectives
• Coordination with global teams (Americas, APAC, EMEA) on periodic basis & work in coordination to complete test projects to customer’s satisfaction
•  Actively engaged in problem solving and continual improvement of Testing Services
•  Leading Shipping and Receiving function in the department
•  Managing DI water Plant for unperturbed DI water supply.
•  Leading team in highly globally networked and collaborative work environment
•  Managing Long Term Durability Testing, Material analysis and characterization and Certification facilities with highly effective maintenance programs and regular interactions with service providers.

•  Management Representative for QMS (IATF 16949:2016, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 50001:2018)
•  Successful resolution of customer Issues & supporting new Product Launch by conducting tests & analyzing test results
• Organize training programs for new recruits ensuring their carrier development and contributions to business goals
• Implements Global EHS norms and safety practices in Testing Services Labs
• Improve value proposition & operate testing services lab within assigned budget
•  Drives operational excellence in Testing services function & motivate team to find cost effective solutions
•  Maintains knowledge of automotive industry trends globally
•  Strong proven competence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Main Tasks
•  Will act as deputy to Technology head for administrative matters in his absence

Main Tasks

• Managing Testing services in BICPL, Mangalore
• Organizes and supervises roles, responsibilities and work request allocations within the team
•  Coordination with respective teams to evaluate digital and automation solutions for testing services and relevant support to implement the same
• Individual contributor as well as a supervisor who supervises and participates in testing & analyzing test results and problem solving. This includes bench-work as well as leading a technical staff
• Provide engineering solutions for equipment modifications & breakdown issues
•  Directs and provides required training to lab associates and supervises visiting students or scientists on temporary assignments
•  Stays updated with current developments in the areas of coatings Internal
• Planning capital budget for five or more years for Testing services labs
•  Plan operation budget & Maintain the stock of required spares and raw materials
•  Successful Installation of equipment by following all site safety procedures like MOC, PSSR 
• Method Development for internal calibrations as per ISO-17025 & UL
•  Develop system procedures for smooth functioning of Testing services function
•  Managing Shipping and Receiving function and continual improvement in testing services
• Provide 24X7 equipment support & ensure maximum upkeep of Long Term Durability Test equipments
•  Execute engineering modification projects in Testing services labs
• Interact with external agencies for technical consultation, material purchase and equipment support
•  Emphasize & direct team to focus on continual improvement in the system, processes and day to day work plan
•  Zero downtime in DI water plant operation by following strict maintenance plans
•  Performance management of Testing services team
• Management Representative for Quality system IATF 16949:2016, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 50001:2018 for Testing services
•  Drives adherence to Safety and Environmental standards
•  Promotes know-how exchange and collaboration within Coatings Business Units
•  Ensures to develop self and team member.

Ehs Management:

1. Implement EHS procedures at testing services to maintain safe working environment that supports day-to-day activities.
2. Conduct walkthrough and audits in the department to ensure early identification of hazards and initiate timely corrective actions and preventive practices.
3. To ensure the safe handling of hazardous chemicals and adherence to PPE usage of the lab personnel and the Work Permit system is properly followed. Compliance of process safety and environment code as per BASF practice.

Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position

• Education: Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Material Science, M.Tech. in Paint/Polymer Technology,
•  5 to 10 Years of experience in managing Analytics Labs for automotive coatings, knowledgeable in analytical

chemistry and equipment management

• Technical & Professional Knowledge: Global Automotive R&D lab operations, Good Lab and EHS practices
