Barback/Tour Guide (PT Seasonal) Minden Mill Distilling

At Minden Mill, we’re forging a new frontier in premium American spirits with our meticulous single estate distilling process. We oversee 100% of the production process with the utmost care—from harvesting specially selected grains from estate fields and sourcing snowmelt from the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains to distilling and aging at our state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Minden.
Job SummaryThe tour associate will provide an exceptional tour experience to ensure guests feel valued and leaves them with an enthusiastic and memorable impression of Minden Mill Distilling, our product, our facility, and our history. 

Roles And Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service in all areas: welcome guests, educate and present the portfolio of spirits and elevated tasting and touring experiences in an approachable and entertaining communications style. Must be able to adapt to guests’ differing levels of spirit knowledge.
• Create and execute an exclusive experience for each customer: confidently and knowledgably speak to craft spirits, distilling practices, growing areas, spirit and history (specific training in these areas will be given).
• Book guest and member experiences via phone or email for all tasting room experiences, gathering necessary billing and contact information.
• Greet guests, can answer basic questions about the property and brand.
• Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging guest service.
• Create and execute engaging, educational, and memorable positive guest experiences.
• Check in with guests to ensure they are enjoying their experience and taking action to correct any problems.
• Lead guests on a walking tour, with detailed and accurate commentary at each stop and at appropriate relevant and interesting sites in route.
• Answer the telephone and answer inquiries from customers.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of guests and colleagues by maintaining and upholding safety procedures.
• Maintain excellent communication and relationships with area facilities and personnel.
• Maintain excellent knowledge of Minden Mill Distilling spirits, facilities, products, history, events, etc.
• Assist in tour reservations, bookings and maintain accurate tour records.
• Resolve guest concerns/complaints, as needed and elevate complaints to management when necessary.
• Assist with special event planning, but not limited to, social events, business events, and private distillery groups.
• Handle routine transactions in order to receive guest payments paying with cash or debit/credit card.
• Perform all other duties as assigned or requested.
• Assist customers with the carry out of purchases to their vehicles when necessary.
• Assists with receiving and restocking of wine and/or merchandise as needed.
• Can operate dishwasher and other cleaning devices needed to operate.
• Restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and bar supplies
• Maintain cleanliness of the bar area (e.g., wiping down surfaces, taking out trash, cleaning spills)
• Wash and polish glassware and utensils
• Assist bartenders in preparing garnishes and organizing the bar
• Refill ice bins and monitor bar stock levels throughout shifts
• Collect empty glasses and used dishes from the bar area
• Follow health and safety regulations and hygiene standards

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• 21 years or older
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Work shifts as business levels dictate, including weekends, holidays, evenings, etc.
• Demonstrates, understands, and coaches others on Minen Mill Distillery’s safety practices and procedures by following the key essentials to safety as set forth by our safety resolution.
• Timely and punctual with regards to scheduling requirements
• Enthusiastic, friendly, and knowledgeable.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk distances easily, and handle summer and/or winter temperatures
• Excellent customer service skills
• Self-motivated and driven to increase knowledge of Minden Mill Distillery products and share knowledge with customers
• Maintain clean and tidy work areas
• Comply with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment
• Multi-task in fast paced environment
• Perform quality work efficiently with minimal supervision
• Responsive and flexible at last minute requests
• Able to effectively suggest and sale product to customers
• Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required

Education & Experience

• Basic knowledge of personal computers and peripherals, word processing and spreadsheet software, e-mail and the Internet.
• TIPS certification or similar class preferred, but not required
• WEST certification or similar preferred, but not required
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous guest service experience in tourism, winery/distillery or tour guide setting, is preferred
