Airbus UpNext - Front-end Software developer (m/f)

Job Description:

Airbus Upnext is launching a new cross divisional demonstrator that will deliver strategic outputs to all Airbus divisions. It will help reinforcing knowledge and capacity to propose disruptive and differentiating avionics architecture and advanced awareness sensors to enrich Airbus Helicopters future products. 

Following initial exploration from VERTEX and other UpNext demonstrators, sense & avoidance technologies such as cameras and LiDARs as well as aircraft robust positioning even in case of GPS loss will be further developed up to high level of maturity for helicopter use. Those technologies will be used to increase the crew's awareness of the environment through a novel Human Machine Interface, better adapted to new on-board technologies.

Main Missions:

As a Front end Software developer & Real time/simulated 3D/VR/vision sensor (m/f) you define, develop and integrate hardware and software components for both High Performance Computer awareness sensors and Core computers, including HMI outputs.

You will integrate the plateau-developed data-fusion and computer vision algorithms for guidance, navigation and object detection for aircrafts in taxi, take-off and landing phases.

You will facilitate rapid prototyping of the solution for demonstration purposes and participate in the integration of these components on the demonstrator, ensuring the adequate connections between the different technobricks.

Your participation in creativity sessions is key to ensure the sprint set-up and filtering of  orientations as regards technical feasibility. 

You are passionate and impatient about putting methods and processes in place to achieve your targets. You are the type of person who thinks about “how things can be done” rather than “if they can be done”.

You work collaboratively and with humility and are a constant learner about how to improve the performance.

This job is based in Marignane and it comes with a limited contract (CDI-C) linked to the deliverable of the demonstrator (estimated end date June 2028). Starting date ASAP.

What You Bring

• Engineering degree with an innovation flavor
• Write high quality structured bare metal and Linux-based software for embedded processors (e.g. ARM)
• Knowledge of Helicopter environment 
• Experience in use, integration and development of specific algorithms associated to LiDARs
• Experience in design and implementation of Human / Machine interfaces
• Experience in Flight Test preparation
• Embedded software developer mastering : C/C++ programming language, Fluency in POSIX shell script and Python, GPU programming language, Experience writing Linux kernel code, Low level driver interface (camera, uart, arinc429, CAN, publish/subscribe protocol), Library (OpenCV, cuda, ROS, PCL, Wampcc), Continuous integration & delivery (Docker, Jenkins), version control system (Git, SVN).
• Knowledge of AGILE-Scrums methodology would be a plus
• Flexibility and capability to adapt to changing environments
