Demand Manager Sales, ProcurementJob Description
Vanderlande is seeking a Demand Manager of Sales to join our Procurement Team. The Demand Manager of Sales will serve as the procurement expert during the Project Sales phase, driving standardization and cost optimization of our offers. As a DM Sales, you will be the key point of contact for procurement activities during sales, collaborating with engineering and sales teams to ensure competitive and feasible project proposals.
Our global procurement organization enables our projects and business functions by maximizing value and minimizing risks via the procurement of goods and services in the most cost-effective and sustainable way. We ensure a resilient and competitive supplier ecosystem and aim to advance towards best-in-class practices, and ensure the organization is efficient, effective, and future-proof. Furthermore, our procurement organization plays a significant role in Vanderlande's transformation from an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) to a Configure-to-Order (CTO) business model. This new model aims at enhancing value for its customers through increased standardization, scalability, and more competitive solutions.
What will you be doing?
As the DM Sales, you will be the key point of contact for procurement activities during the sales phase, focusing on standardization, cost optimization, risk mitigation, and strategic supplier selection. You will help shape sales offers, initiate and/or manage RFx events for non-itemized items, and ensure seamless project handover to the project execution teams. Your role is crucial in aligning procurement activities with sales objectives and ensuring project feasibility.
Responsibilities
- Function as the key point-of-contact for procurement-related activities during the Project Sales phase, supporting and collaborating with the sales engineering and sales teams to minimize total project risk and cost.
- Help shape sales offers to leverage itemized items and ensure competitive procurement-related conditions (e.g., cost, lead times), challenging non-standard specifications to optimize engineering choices towards best practices and cost-efficiency from a procurement perspective.
- During the sales phase, identify goods or services with long lead times that do not meet project requirements, develop a strategy to ensure feasibility.
- Advise project stakeholders on default products/services and supplier options and provide alternative recommendations or trigger the selection of a new supplier when default suppliers are unsuitable due to specific project requirements.
- In the Project Sales phase, initiate and/or lead RFx events (depending on the applicable category policy, profile and characteristics) for non-itemized products and services, including document creation, evaluation of supplier proposals against predefined criteria, should-cost modelling coordination, and participate in negotiations with suppliers and final supplier selection.
- Provide procurement-related information required for the project Supply Plan as the Project Sales process progresses and communicate any changes or concerns with the project team.
- Facilitate the handover of the sales projects to the Project Buyer.
- For NA resources only: When required, create and maintain the GFE log (Good Faith Effort), ensure compliance and regulatory requirements are accurately documented as outlined by the sales team.
What do we ask from you?
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Extensive experience (5-7 years) in procurement, supply chain management, or sales support within technical or engineering-focused organization
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, RFx management, and supplier negotiation
- Strong analytical skills to assess cost models, lead times, and supplier proposals, identifying opportunities for optimization
- Experience in developing mitigation strategies for supply chain risks, particularly related to long lead times.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to present procurement insights to sales and engineering teams.
- Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to travel internationally up to 5% of the time.
