As a Senior Data Science Manager within PNC's Marketing & Customer Analytics organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh or Philadelphia, PA, Cleveland, OH, Charlotte, NC, Tysons Corner, VA, Houston or Dallas, TX or Wilmington, DE. This position is primarily located in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at manager's discretion.Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Science Manager to help grow our Marketing Data Enablement team. This critical leadership role will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of our core data platforms, pipelines, and infrastructure that power our marketing analytics, campaign management, and personalization initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of data architecture, a strong track record of building and managing high-performing teams, and a passion for leveraging data to drive business value in the fast-paced and highly regulated banking industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Leadership & Management:
o Lead, mentor, and grow a team of marketing data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
o Set team goals and objectives, conduct performance reviews, and manage career development plans for team members.
o Allocate resources effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Strategic & Technical Direction:
o Develop and execute the marketing data engineering strategy and roadmap in alignment with the bank's growth objectives.
o Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines and data warehouses (e.g., in a cloud environment like AWS, Azure).
o Evaluate and select new technologies and tools to enhance our data infrastructure and capabilities.
o Establish and enforce best practices for data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, data quality, and metadata management.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
o Partner closely with data scientists, business intelligence analysts, and product managers to understand their data needs and provide them with the necessary data solutions.
o Communicate complex technical concepts and project updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.
o Work with our cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure all data engineering practices adhere to banking regulations
• Operational Excellence:
o Oversee the day-to-day operations of the data platform, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response.
o Implement and maintain robust data governance frameworks to ensure data integrity, security, and privacy.
o Drive automation and efficiency in data engineering processes.
• Preferred Skills & Experience:
o Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role and at least 2-3 years’ experience with data used for marketing use cases. Direct experience with Adobe Technology Stack, i.e., AEP, CJA, AJO etc. is a significant plus.
o Demonstrated experience in the banking, financial services, or a similarly highly regulated industry.
o Proven experience building and leading a team of data engineers from strategy to execution.
• Technical Skills:
o Deep expertise in data warehousing, data modeling, and data lake architectures.
o Proficiency in modern data processing frameworks and tools (e.g., Spark, Kafka).
o Extensive experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure) and related services (e.g., S3, Redshift, Glue, Big Query, Dataflow).
o Expertise in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Scala).
o Solid understanding of ETL/ELT methodologies and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt).
o Exceptional leadership and people management skills with a focus on mentorship and team development.
o Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
o Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with a results-oriented mindset.

Job Description
- Oversees end-to-end analytical projects that leverage vast amounts of structured and unstructured data to extract actionable business insights.
- Provides leadership, direction and methodology for Data Scientists to create appropriate models and data-driven solutions for the business.
- Recruits, trains, and develops best-in-class Data Scientists.
- Works with executive leadership to identify data science project opportunities and assists in planning activities including budget and scope determination.
- Oversees relationship with Data Architects, Data Analysts, Data Engineers and Visualization Experts to develop data-driven solutions for the business.

Base Salary: $80,000.00 – $172,500.00Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.Application Window
