We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Network Engineer I to join our growing IT Infrastructure team. This is an early-career role ideal for candidates with 3–5 years of total IT experience, including 1–2 years of hands-on networking experience. You’ll work alongside a team of experienced engineers to support and maintain our global network infrastructure, which spans multiple data centers and 80+ office locations.

This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to deepen their networking skills in a complex, enterprise-scale environment while contributing to the performance and reliability of high-traffic platforms like Apartments.com and LoopNet.com.

This position is located at our Richmond, VA downtown campus and offers a schedule of Monday to Thursday in office and work from home Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, and support of enterprise network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and SD-WAN appliances.
  • Respond to and resolve network-related support tickets, escalating as needed to senior engineers.
  • Participate in office network deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting across global locations.
  • Support the implementation of network changes under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Help maintain documentation for network configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including NetOps, DevOps, and Service Desk to ensure network availability and performance.
  • Learn and grow in areas such as routing, switching, wireless, and security technologies.
  • Work with various networking technologies including but not limited to:
  • Firewalls – Palo Alto
  • SDWAN – Palo Alto Prisma
  • Cisco Catalyst Switches

  • Wireless – Aruba controllers and access points, Clearpass
  • Sase – Zscaler

  • Ipam – Infoblox

  • Network Management – LogicMonitor, OpenText, HPE UXI

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college (preferably in Computer Science or related field)
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers 
  • 3+ years of total IT experience, including 1+ years of hands-on experience supporting network infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with core networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs.
  • Exposure to enterprise networking equipment (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto, or similar).
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • A desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

  • One or more relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Aruba ACMA, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting enterprise Wi-Fi and LAN/WAN environments.
  • Exposure to network monitoring tools (e.g., LogicMonitor, PRTG, SolarWinds).
  • Familiarity with firewall, load balancing, or cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure).
  • Experience working in environments with ticketing systems and change management processes.
