Position Summary:
We are seeking a Mandarin-speaking student with strong academic and linguistic skills to assist in translating and contextualizing a series of high-level lectures delivered in English.
These sessions are part of a leadership and innovation program and feature prominent speakers in business, ethics, and entrepreneurship. In order to offer a professional experience, we need to ensure that the students properly comprehend the lectures and panels.
Responsibilities:Attend The Following Sessions:
- Friday, October 3:
- 9:00am–11:00am: AI in Business – Prof. Maxime Cohen
- 11:15am–1:15pm: AI and Ethics – Kate Arthur
- 2:30pm–4:30pm: Leadership and Strategy – Prof. Henry Mintzberg
- Monday, October 6:
- 9:00am–11:00am: Canadian Business Environment – Prof. Chris Ragan
- 11:15am–1:15pm: Entrepreneurial Business Environment – Marie-Josée Lamothe
- 2:30pm–4:00pm: Entrepreneurial Panel Discussion
- Verify accuracy of translation into Mandarin with attention to tone, nuance, and technical accuracy.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure participants comprehend the context and content.
- Attend a CCBC reception on October 6th, from 5 to 8PM, held in Mandarin
Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities:
- • Minimum Bachelor's degree
- • Preferably PhD student (studying business, economics, ethics, AI, or related fields).
- • Native or fluent Mandarin speaker with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- • Strong comprehension of academic English and subject matter terminology.
- • Experience in translation or interpretation is an asset.
- • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
