Warehouse Utility - 6am-2:30pm

Under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor and assigned Area Lead, the Warehouse Utility position is the first line functional expert within assigned area. This position assures that all employees assigned to his/her area are able to perform tasks in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner. This position is charged with the systematic review, and maintenance of all standard work/work instructions within assigned area. Furthermore, this position serves as a proxy for the Area lead and Lead position, conducts tier 1 meetings, and updates daily run charts in their absence. This individual is also responsible for supporting Lean tactics in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Engagement. They will support and lead continuous improvement (CI) projects that foster operational enhancements, as well as maintain all areas to meet 6’s standards. This position requires heightened understanding of our Warehouse Management System (WMS) and processes, and basic understanding of all functions within hierarchy assignment. This includes the safe operation of all material handling equipment to ensure daily workload is fulfilled.

Safety:

• Assists Area Lead/Lead to ensure proper use of all equipment and adherence to company policy, ensuring that work is performed in a safe manner.

Quality:

• Accurately moves manufactured goods and materials throughout the warehouse utilizing a variety of powered industrial equipment.
• Assists Area Lead/Lead in team compliance with internal Quality standards
• Assists Area Lead/Lead in team ISO compliance and assists with root cause identification and corrective actions
• Performs quality control by inspecting materials, ensuring the complete accuracy of inbound/outbound freight.
• Performs systematic review, and maintenance of all standard work/work instructions within assigned area.

Delivery:

• Uses scanning technology to accurately complete tasks/transactions and transports materials within the warehouse either by forklift or by hand.
• Interfaces with internal and external customers/carriers to ensure timely delivery and receipt of all materials.

Cost:

• Identifies imbalances within workflow, analyzes WMS tasks, prioritizes activities, and performs actions to support overall function. 

Engagement:

• Serves as a high performing role model for assigned functional area.
• Provides operational support and guidance to all employees within assigned area.
• Attends daily tier meetings and leads tier discussion when appropriate.
• Assists with training as necessary.

Continuous Improvement:

• Fully engaged in 6S/lean and tier management; participates by contributing/completing continuous improvement suggestions, A3’s, kaizen events, and other projects as needed. Continual development in lean is required.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Maintains a “Lean” mindset, while continually seeking out opportunities to contribute to business success through proactive involvement in team initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven SME in several warehouse functions
• Requires a high school diploma or GED
• Minimum of 2 years distribution experience

Certificates, Licenses And Registrations:

• Forklift Experience Required

• Lean Practitioner Certification Preferred
