What Is Involved

Research is an integral part of our work as cancer specialists, and we are committed to providing our patients with state of the art treatment options, whether it be new drugs, or specialist equipment/devices.

This is an onsite role at Cancer Care Wollongong. The position will coordinate and facilitate clinical trials onsite, ensuring patient safety and integrity of trial data by coordinating participant recruitment, data collection and site operations according to protocols and in accordance with GCP and other regulatory guidelines.

Your key daily duties will include:

  • Patient Care & Coordination: Provide education, support, and monitoring for clinical trial participants, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and protocol adherence.
  • Trial Conduct & Documentation: Prepare, maintain, and manage essential trial documents including consent forms, CRFs, source data, and regulatory submissions. Ensure timely and accurate entry of data into trial databases.
  • Regulatory & Ethical Compliance: Ensure compliance with ICH-GCP, NHMRC guidelines, and local ethics requirements. Coordinate ethics submissions and assist with audits, monitoring, and inspections.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work with investigators, nurses, pharmacists, sponsors, and CROs to support trial operations.
  • Operational Support: Coordinate scheduling, investigational product management, supplies, and trial visit logistics. Assist with study feasibility, start-up activities, and site training.
  • Financial Accountability: Support tracking of trial milestones and monitoring of budget adherence.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to staff education, participate in professional development, and support initiatives to enhance trial delivery and patient experience.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in clinical trials and/or research data management processes, or willingness to learn.
  • Positive and warm attitude with a commitment to providing exemplary support to all patients and their families.
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and/ or skills in working with patients in a clinical environment.
  • Tertiary education in a related health discipline, or equivalent level of relevant training and experience.
  • Sound computer skills demonstrated by the ability to use standard MS-Office software.
  • Demonstrated commitment towards ongoing professional development.
  • Commitment to the local community and working towards improving outcomes for rural and regional patients.

Desirable Criteria

• Previous experience with electronic data capture systems, eg. Imedidata, Veeva, Viedoc.
