Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Accounting is responsible for supervising a team of accountants, reviewing journal entries and reconciliations, and makes sure that the account balances are up-to-date and compliant with standards. This position is responsible for tight deadlines and a variety of accounting activities, such as oversight of projects, quarterly reviews, and year-end audits. This role will be responsible for managing professional service fee revenue, health insurance and workers compensation revenue and cost. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilites

  • Lead a team of accountants in the execution of monthly close operations         
  • Work closely with U.S. accounting teams to ensure seamless execution of monthly close processes and ongoing operational maintenance    
  • Manage journal entries including maintenance of recurring journal entries and allocations       
  • Supervise and review account reconciliation and analysis for their assigned area of responsibility      
  • Analyze complex revenue contracts and ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.              
  • Recognition of revenue for insurance services.    
  • Monitor and analyze financial accounting data.   
  • Maintain finance ledgers, including routine maintenance and monthly closes. 
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute quarterly and annual financial reviews
  • Compile information for the Company's regulatory filings          
  • Implement policies and procedures with an emphasis on internal controls, as required           
  • Assist in documenting internal processes/controls as well as developing improvements as appropriate       
  • Assist in implementing and ongoing testing of SOX control processes, ensuring that they function as intended         
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders outside of accounting    
  • Provide responses to auditor queries and assists in overall coordination of audit tasks, requests and communications.            
  • Identify opportunities of enhancements and implementations needed to streamline workflows or improve efficiencies   
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance - required           
  • General education, vocational training and/or on-the-job training 
  • Chartered Accountant (Mandatory)- required           

Work Experience

  • Typically 12+ years in Accounting or Finance required - required              
  • Typically 5+ years managing a team within accounting - required           
  • Experience working with colleagues in different time zones - required           
  • Experience in a progressive accounting environment for a Fortune 1000 size company and/or medium or larger public accounting firm with high volume transactions and a disciplined close process - preferred          

Licenses And Certifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Upon Hire - preferred              
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) - Upon Hire - required           

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to show excellent theoretical and practical grasp of US GAAP accounting principles, including accounting standards codification, understanding of accounting processes, and proficient in ERP/accounting-based systems including Oracle Fusion ERP     
  • Experience in SOX control execution/documentation desirable  
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion ERP accounting platform a plus  
  • Experience with Oracle RMCS and OSM a plus      
  • Experience with Zuora and RevPro a plus   
  • Highly effective leadership skills reflecting ownership/accountability, critical thinking, collaboration, demonstrate ability to inspire and empower others, promote inclusivity, transparency and resiliency      
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills             
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills           
  • Ability to learn, develop, and grow from mistakes; willingness to learn and develop new skills; and to adjust and adapt to a fast paced continually changing business and work environment      
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite specifically Excel, Outlook, and Teams
