Principal Specialist, Sustainability & Energy Efficiency.

Job Purpose:
The Principal Specialist for Sustainability & Energy Efficiency is responsible for leading the development and execution of innovative research and technology initiatives that enhance sustainability, drive value creation from waste streams and maximize energy efficiency. This role focuses on identifying, evaluating, and implementing cutting-edge solutions that convert industrial waste into valuable products, align with circular economy principles, and support Maaden’s environmental objectives.
The specialist collaborates with internal stakeholders, external research institutions, and industry partners to test and validate the various concepts/emerging technologies, improve resource and energy efficiency, and integrate waste valorization technologies into company operations. Additionally, the Principal Specialist ensures compliance with regulatory frameworks, assess technical and economic feasibility, and contribute to Maaden long-term sustainability strategy through impactful R&D projects.

• Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
• • Develop and drive the Waste-to-Value R&D strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate sustainability goals and industry best practices.
• • Identify emerging trends, technologies, and opportunities to enhance waste valorization and circular economy initiatives.
• • Lead and manage R&D projects focused on converting waste into valuable products, including feasibility studies, pilot programs, and technology scaling.
• • Collaborate with internal teams and external research institutions to explore innovative solutions in waste reduction, resource recovery, and sustainable materials.
• • Assess the technical and economic feasibility of new waste-to-value technologies and recommend viable solutions for implementation.
• • Ensure effective integration of sustainable technologies into operations while optimizing resource efficiency and minimizing environmental impact.
• • Represent the company in technical forums, industry conferences, and research collaborations to strengthen innovation networks.
• Qualifications, experience & skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering.
• 15 years of experience in mining sustainability and waste management.
