About the Role
The Department of Public Health & Community Medicine seeks a collaborative faculty member in Health Policy and Management (e.g., health policy, health care management, health finance, health services research). The successful candidate will teach and mentor graduate students, contribute to service in the department and University, and, for full-time appointments, maintain an active program of scholarship. We welcome interdisciplinary approaches that connect health policy, management, finance, and delivery system performance. Scholarship or teaching that advances rigorous, evidence-based approaches to health equity is encouraged.

As a clinical department in the School of Medicine, faculty positions are not tenured.  Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 3 courses per year in health policy, health care management, health finance, or related areas.
  • For full-time: salary support from research, clinical, or other extramural sources.

        For research-active roles: develop/advance an independent and/or collaborative research agenda (e.g., health policy design and evaluation, cost-effectiveness, health insurance and payment reform, health delivery system performance) and pursue external funding as appropriate to the track

  • Advise and mentor MPH and other graduate students; participate in curriculum development.
  • Engage in departmental, school, and professional service.

About the Department
The Department of Public Health & Community Medicine houses the MPH and related graduate programs, including combined degree pathways with medicine, law, nutrition, veterinary medicine, and physician assistant studies. Our programs emphasize active learning, discussion and debate, and multidisciplinary practice, with accessible faculty. Research strengths include global health, maternal and child health, chronic disease and obesity, health policy and delivery, climate and one health science, substance use, GIS, social determinants of health, nutrition, and infectious disease.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • PhD, DrPH, MD/MPH, or equivalent in health policy, health finance, health management, health services research,  or a closely related field.
  • Evidence of effective graduate-level teaching or clear potential to teach effectively at the graduate level.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work across disciplines.
  • For Associate Professor or Professor: a record of peer-reviewed scholarship and graduate advising/teaching commensurate with rank.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching diverse learner populations and applying inclusive, evidence-based pedagogy.
  • Track record of team science, practice-based partnerships, or policy engagement.
  • For research-focused roles: demonstrated success in extramural funding.
