The Opportunity:
This 7 month post (subject to renewal at BHF Site Visit in late October) will plan, manage and implement a programme of high quality cardiovascular research funded by the British Heart Foundation Research Chair of Translational Cardiovascular Sciences to Professor Andrew Baker, which is positioned to understand and exploit mechanisms of regeneration and repair in cardiac disease. This will involve research into cardiac and vascular remodelling/gene therapy and how to manipulate therapeutically and assess therapeutic gain in models of disease. This role will include management of staff, including postdoctoral and PhD posts, technical staff, training and data resources, with the aim of providing high level input into the research of the BHF Chair, for example, publications of research outcomes in high impact journals and training.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. The post is on-site and not open to hybrid working.
Post required to start on 1st January 2026.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Extensive research experience in analysis and management of research projects in the wet lab relating to cardiovascular disease or gene therapy and significant post-doctoral experience.
- Experience and demonstrated success in delivering research project results
- Experience and achievement in the specialist area, reflected in a growing personal research portfolio
- Extensive experience of developing and applying models, techniques and analytical methods as appropriate to answer important questions in cardiovascular research and gene therapy.
