About The Job
As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and then supervise test execution and failure analysis. A broad engineering background and command of statistical methods will help to inform the design of new products. Your communication skills will be key to ensuring adoption of your technical recommendations. In this position, you will assess the reliability of critical modules, including camera and sensor systems. You will collaborate with design , test, manufacturing and operations teams to define test standards and supervise execution. You will perform basic electrical debug, failure analysis, and building effective cross-functional relationships.
Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Devices & Services team combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences for users. We research, design, and develop new technologies and hardware to make our user's interaction with computing faster, seamless, and more powerful. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, the Devices & Services team is making people's lives better through technology.Responsibilities
- Develop and execute reliability tests and requirements for camera modules (VCM, lens, etc.) to expose design weaknesses and establish acceleration models for new technologies.
- Understand technology drivers and conduct Early Collaboration with engineering teams to bring out design weaknesses of critical modules.
- Establish and lead module-level DfR activities, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), applying Design of Experiments (DoE).
- Lead Failure Analysis and Corrective Action (FACA) efforts, by designing test jigs and identifying mechanical weaknesses via physical or virtual simulation.
- Translate test results into meaningful product life metrics and collaborate across internal and external teams (Design, Quality, FA) to drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
