The NSW Energy Security Corporation (ESC) is currently seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to lead the corporation through this exciting period of growth and development. As Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Energy Security Corporation, you will be responsible for leading the organisation in fulfilling its statutory and investment mandate under the Energy Security Corporation Act 2024 (NSW) to accelerate private sector investment in clean energy technologies that enhance the reliability, security, and sustainability of electricity supply across New South Wales. The CEO provides visionary and strategic leadership, fostering innovation and collaboration across government, industry, and the investment community.
As a highly influential and accountable executive, the CEO demonstrates integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to public value, while driving performance and delivering a government-mandated rate of return through a diversified investment portfolio in NSW.
Key Knowledge and experience
- Significant experience leading investment and financial advisory teams (both equity and debt), ideally in renewable energy infrastructure.
- Experience establishing private market investment management teams, alternative asset investment funds, government private sector funding entities, including developing investment and risk management policies, processes and frameworks, in line with an endorsed investment mandate and governance principles.
- Experience establishing businesses, attracting talent and leading, managing and inspiring effective multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- High ethical standards and sound judgment.
- Experience with deal development, investment portfolio construction and management.
- Familiarity with and an ability to work in a public sector governance framework.
Essential Requirements – As detailed in the Role Description
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience in the energy and climate change sector, with strong financial, analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Extensive knowledge of the renewable energy ecosystem across NSW and Australia, and excellent relationships with key players within this ecosystem.
