Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Technologist to join our Firmware Engineering team and drive the core architecture of our next-generation, high-bandwidth flash controller for the Gaia project. You'll be a key technical leader, guiding the firmware strategy across critical domains from the host interface down to low-level silicon drivers and power management. Your work will directly shape the performance, reliability, and efficiency of our flash storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Technologist, you will lead the architectural strategy and provide deep technical guidance across multiple firmware domains:

  • Host-Side Architecture: Architect the host-facing firmware stack, including high-speed protocols like PCIe and NVMe.
  • Flash Translation Layer (FTL): Guide the design and optimization of the FTL for high-bandwidth, low-latency performance.
  • Back-End Architecture: Lead the firmware for managing the flash memory, including algorithms for ECC, wear-leveling, and garbage collection.
  • Low-Level Drivers & Bring-Up: Own the architecture of low-level drivers for silicon peripherals (DDR, PLLs, etc.) and lead the initial chip bring-up.
  • Power Management: Design and implement intelligent power management firmware, including dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) and thermal management.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with hardware, software, and silicon teams to ensure a cohesive, high-performing end-to-end system.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 15+ years of hands-on experience in firmware or embedded systems development, with a proven track record of shipping complex products.
  • Expert-Level C/C++: Master-level proficiency in C/C++ and a deep understanding of embedded systems architecture.
  • Flash Expertise: Extensive knowledge of NAND flash memory and firmware algorithms for flash management (FTL, wear-leveling, garbage collection).
  • High-Speed Interfaces: Strong background in high-speed communication protocols like PCIe and NVMe.
  • System-Level Knowledge: Deep understanding of silicon bring-up, low-level drivers, and on-chip peripherals.
  • Leadership: Proven experience as a technical leader or architect, capable of mentoring and guiding a team.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
