About The Opportunity

Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) Division is looking for a Financial Controller France based in Rungis (Paris), France, directly reporting into the EMEA Area Controller.

The position provides financial planning, reporting, stewardship, support and leadership to the France diabetes care business, ensuring all commercial activities and objectives are delivered, based on sound financial analytics. Also provides and interprets relevant performance & activity tracking data and acts as a driving force for continuous improvement within the ADC France business. Collaborates with CFS (Corporate Finance Services) for effective provisioning of local financial reporting of actuals and adherence to local / Corporate financial policies and procedures. Ensures team effectiveness, development and employee engagement in the Finance and Demand team in France.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key financial adviser to the GM France ADC and the management team.
  • Lead the ADC France Finance organization, ensure effective and efficient setup of the Finance function, driving analytical efforts as well as business support.
  • Lead the demand planning function and the delivery of the monthly CDR (Commercial Demand Review) process.
  • Responsible for ensuring management and control of ADC France P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash flow and CCC goals, acting as a lead for financial planning and reporting tasks.
  • Prepare Plan, LBE’s, CDR’s, OEM forecasts. Review and critically assess assumptions for reasonableness, challenge assumptions and business model to deliver business growth and sound business operations. Ensure all relevant information is succinctly consolidated and the outputs are appropriately actioned.
  • Monitor financial and market performance with monthly reporting, with focus on and improving forecasting accuracy. Track and monitor actual sales and margin performance vs respective benchmarks. Provide commentary, perform gap analysis, and take timely action to address variances.
  • Provide relevant financial reports to the Management team, to ensure effective decision making. Support the financial management of business critical KPI’s. Assist the Management Team through ad hoc reports and analysis to highlight risks and opportunities and to provide business related insights.
  • Lead process improvements and other continuous improvement projects in order to ensure ADC France is optimally set up to effectively serve customers in a fast-changing market. Participate in ADC initiatives for enhancement of business processes and financial effectiveness.
  • Effectively manage and develop direct reports. Build and develop a strong and sustainable Finance & Demand organization, ensuring succession / talent pipeline.
  • Monitor, implement and manage controls within the ADC France business, to ensure compliance with Abbott policies (Corporate and local). Responsible for supporting financial audit process (internal and external) and implementing any findings / suggestions.
  • Comply with the company’s policies and procedures (regulatory, divisional and corporate directives) to meet statutory, quality and business requirements within the overall strategy and objectives of ADC / Abbott.

Key Requirements:

  • Preferred master’s degree or equivalent in Finance / Accounting related disciplines, with progressive experience in various Controlling, General Accounting, Commercial Finance or Operational positions.
  • 5-7 years extensive leadership experience as finance manager and/or controller
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Highly analytical and high level of numeracy, with experience in analyzing and interpreting data, with an eye for details, but always having a bigger picture in mind. 
  • Proven leadership skills: excel in clear communication, emotional intelligence, and strategic thinking to lead a team effectively. Excellent skills in conflict resolution, delegation, and motivation ensure a productive and positive work environment. Strong commitment and willing to take ownership of issues. Ability to handle pressure calmly.
  • Organization and Planning skills: Experience of leading efficient teams. Result-oriented attitude, with ability to work to deadlines and prioritize workload. Highly motivated, with ability to delegate to manage workload across multiple stakeholders and structure team’s work to achieve timely deliverables under tight deadlines. Patience & understanding to coach and develop direct reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to network across different departments both within the division and more broadly across Abbott, and to present cross-functionally adapting to the respective audience.
  • Must have excellent system skills, aptitude and experience, especially MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint), SAP and preferably PowerBI
  • Fluency in French, high proficiency in English.
