Position Summary:
Manages the day-to-day activities of an Insurance Services Implementation team to ensure delivery of an optimal client experience. Maintains high visibility within a fast-paced, dynamic environment with an emphasis on high levels of statistical achievement. Ensures seamless client implementation through regular interfaces with internal business partners such as payroll and all our support groups. Utilize extensive Insurance Services and general payroll knowledge to support staff building and configuring client benefit portals.
Provides a vehicle through which procedural modifications, changing business needs and expansion of services for existing clients may be implemented without causing undue stress on clients. Determines training requirements; manages human resource issues and performance for the team. Provide communication with payroll regions and other departments/business units to resolve client issues. Business travel may be required.
What you can expect on a typical day
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing the daily activities of a team of 10-12 Benefit Specialists.
- Manages performance of associates in order to meet employee implementation goals, to ensure high statistical achievement and provide opportunities for career development.
- Drafts performance appraisals for associates and provides feedback; drafts team goals.
- Identifies training needs of the team and coordinates with client service trainers any special training needs; may provide one-on-one or group training.
- Coordinates communication with payroll regions and departments regarding various problems and expedites a resolution.
- Respond to critical clients and escalated calls; provide feedback regarding critical clients.
- Direct participation with large or critical client situations as deemed necessary.
- Manage to achieve targets for client implementation and quality survey scores.
- Work interdepartmentally to improve efficiency in processes and procedures to ensure continuous improvement in the client experience.
- Faces problems and takes action after fully and rapidly weighing the benefits and drawbacks.
- Move ahead as soon as the decision is made and takes follow-up action to support decisions. Makes sound and timely decisions in the face of uncertainty.
TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE: Required Qualifications
- At least 3-5 years of related work experience
- 1 to 2 years of direct people leadership experience
A college degree is great but not required. What's more important is having the skills to do the job. If you don't have a college degree, other acceptable experiences could include:
- Experience noted above, OR
- Military experience where skills including teamwork, adaptability, organization, and follow-through will help you build team and client relationships, identify solutions, and achieve success
BONUS POINTS FOR THESE: Preferred Qualifications
- Having your Health insurance producer license is preferred, maintaining all required insurance licenses, and completing required appropriate continuing education courses. If not held, it can be obtained after being hired into this role.
- Experience with Benefits Administration platforms (EASE, Employee Navigator, GoCo) that automate and streamline the management of employee benefits
- Excellent collaboration, organizational, time management, customer service and problem-solving skills and the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions
- Demonstrates strong oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to assess team members' performance and provide motivational support
- Ability to demonstrate learning agility and critical thinking skills and apply basic concepts in new situations
- Utilizes tools to support daily functions such as Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc) Demonstrates ability to learn other proprietary system tools (Omni Plus, Power Image, and Clarify).
- Proficiency in using payroll and recordkeeping systems.
- Personnel management, strategic thinking, and decision making.
- Proven relationship-building skills.
