Summary
This position will manage, direct and be accountable for all Quality Control section activities. This includes Inspection, Investigation and Calibration areas.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Set Quality Control Section Level Hoshin Kanri targets.
- Develop and ensure training of Quality Control policies and procedures.
- Responsible for New Products Initial Control including SQAM submission to customers, process inspection set-up, pilot production correspondence and check problems, reliability test plan, supplier guidance process audit, and customer process investigation correspondence.
- Responsible for Customer Defect Investigation, Countermeasures, and Reports.
- Responsible for Supplier Defect Investigation, countermeasures and feedback.
- Responsible for In-Process Customer Defect Investigation and Countermeasures.
- Responsible for High Volume Production Trail (HVPT) and SOP - Control first three months with special inspection.
- Implement inspection plan (I/S).
- Maintain mass production quality and develop improvement plan.
- Confirm product change control (ECI process change).
- Maintain internal customer quality levels (relationships, quick response).
- Promote quality planning by mapping out company and targets (long term, short term).
- Develop and maintain and improve the quality control systems (standard work).
- Implement, maintain, and improve quality standard.
- Develop and implement reliability tests.
- Develop Quality Assurance plan and evaluate the raw material.
- Promote and improve the measuring technique of total company (GR&R) and control the measuring tools and equipment (maintenance).
- Develop and manage budget for Quality Control
- Support ISO/IATF and ISO 14001 registration within company determined time frame.
- Responsible for Internal Audit (self audit) process and supporting formal audits.
- Preparation of Management review material
- Ensure product's compliance with Customer's requirements
- Implement customer part approval process activity per AIAG guidelines
- Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
- Will perform other reasonably related tasks within the Company as required by the Supervisor or Management
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise Assistant Managers and support group leaders, team leaders and team members.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of automatic transmission manufacturing.
- Knowledge of the Toyota Production System
- GD&T knowledge
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to interact well with coworkers.
- Basic CMM programming ability
- Metrology background beyond basic hand measurements
- Able to measure with Surface finish gauges, RoundCom, CMM, Hardness testers, Vision system (Keyence)
- Ability to lead "white board" discussions to chart and better understand ATX systems
- Excellent cooperative personality
- Ability to work 2 shifts
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to interact and work as a team at all levels of the organization
- Ability to understand, follow and implement posted work rules and company procedures.
- Will perform other related tasks within the company are required by the Supervisor or Management
Qualifications, Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
- 10 years of prior applicable experience in manufacturing.
- 5 years management experience required.
- Automotive experience required.
- Valid passport for travel required for travel
Work Environment
- Some dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, propane, solvents and occasional heavy lifting.
- Exposed to hazardous machinery and/or conditions that could result in injury up to and including a fatality if safety measures are not followed and adhered to.
- Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils. The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing areas were under certain conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety shoes and safety glasses.
- Open staff room with constant activity and interaction with cross-functional divisions, departments, and sections. Must be able to effectively change tasks at a moment's notice when the situation requires.
