JOB SUMMARY
A magical story awaits our guests at The Peak of Christmas from November 25th – December 25th. This annual event transforms Grouse Mountain into Vancouver’s North Pole, where guests can meet Santa in his workshop, see reindeer Dancer and Vixen, experience the enchanting light walk, glide across the Mountaintop Skating Pond, and much more!
The Events Team Lead is a customer-facing role to support the delivery of The Peak of Christmas event. You will primarily be based in Santa’s Workshop and Elf Headquarters, ensuring both attractions operate smoothly and guests have a positive and engaging experience.
Please note that the Events Team Lead position is a one-month contract to support the execution of The Peak of Christmas event. There may be opportunities for continued employment within other departments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Lead a team of Event Representatives by maintaining a positive, communicative and fun work environment
• Assist with training and provide support with supervision of staff
• Work with Santa and Event Representatives on scheduling breaks to ensure seamless communication to the Grouse Mountain guests
• Knowledgeable about The Peak of Christmas programming in order to effectively respond to guest inquiries and promote activities
• Assist in the operational responsibilities of Santa’s workshop, including opening and closing, sign-up process, check-in, and flow of guests
• Drive charitable fundraising through promoting sale of Santa photos
• Assist Santa during his breaks and enroute to and from the workshop
• Ensure Santa’s break area/dressing room remains accessible, private, and comfortable
• Asist in the operational responsibilities of Elf Headquarters, including opening and closing, setting up and facilitating crafts, and ensuring craft supplies are tidy and stocked
• Welcome guests of all ages and provide a fun and engaging experience
• Communicate with guests in a clear, respectful and enthusiastic manner
• Respond to guest concerns and comments efficiently to ensure that all guests have a positive experience
• Maintain good communication with Events Specialist, Marketing & Events Coordinator, and Marketing & Events Manager
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides direct support with the supervision of Events Representatives while on shift.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
• Previous experience in a supervisory role
• Experience working with children and/or in a customer service role
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience facilitating crafts is an asset
• Must be personable, friendly and outgoing with a positive attitude
• High energy and strong work ethic
• Able to spend long periods on feet and outside
• Secondary language skills an asset (Spanish and Mandarin preferred)
• Open availability on weekends during The Peak of Christmas (November 25th – December 24th)
• Successful applicants over the age of 19 will be required to provide results of a clear background check valid within six months of the hire date before starting work. Grouse Mountain will assist with the process if the applicant does not have a valid background check.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$21.51 to $22.82/hour
