What we need:
We are looking for an ULTRASONIC INSPECTOR II who will be responsible evaluate and review machine parts through ultra-high frequency sounds. This person must be familiar with the set-up of their equipment, specific techniques and procedures, and the range of success and efficiency/limitations of parts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Inspect a wide variety of precision machine parts for size, length, finish, hardness, concentricity, plating thickness and angles as may be checked by use of inspection hand tools, comparators or check fixtures.
• Conducts regular and complex examinations to determine acceptability of material or product.
• Examines for possible internal or external defects, such as bursts, cracks, laminations, pinholes, voids, or other defects.
• Operates ultrasonic examination equipment and other examination units required to test, measure, and inspect materials and products.
• Prepares material or product as required in order to properly examine material by cleaning, identifying, setup, etc.
• May read or interpret blueprints or drawings, specifications and scan procedures in order to accomplish ultrasonic setups, tests, and report preparation.
• Conducts regular and complex examinations to determine acceptability of material or product.
• Set up and calibration of nondestructive test equipment.
• Conduct inspection and be able to detect discontinuities using ultrasonic equipment.
• Conduct inspection using mag yoke and portable coils.
• Conduct inspection using dye penetrant and maintain a clean work area.
• Accurately process test results & create reports.
• Verify that company product is to specifications and standards.
• Proper maintenance of inspection gear, dimensional tooling and other equipment.
• Responsible for all aspects of NDT related records.
• Operate cranes, work-savers, fork trucks and other materials handling equipment to obtain, set up and store forgings.
• Prepare and maintain logs, work sheets and other records listing dates, method, test results, etc.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
• NDT Inspection: 5 years
• Certificate(s) for NDT Methods II or III: 5 years
• Requires strong understanding of shop mathematics
• Requires working knowledge of blueprint/schematics.
• Requires working knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, scales, etc.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Minimum of 2 years previous experience as a Level I or Level II NDT Inspection and/or certificate in Non Destructive Testing.
• Requires strong understanding of shop mathematics
• Requires working knowledge of blueprint/schematics.
• Requires working knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, scales, etc.
• Quality focused and strong attention to detail required.
• Must be able to perform complete sonic inspection on any forgings.
• Must pass required Level II Wyman Gordon and other customer certification tests.
• General knowledge of shop operations and processes.
• Ability to demonstrate proper operation of tools.
• Pay particular attention to details to ensure parts pass the test being completed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
• High School diploma, GED or higher level education.
• 1+ year’s general industrial production experience.
• Machine shop background
• Knowledge of metal work and abrasives.
Compensation: $24.00 - $33.31 an hour. This is the lowest to highest hourly rate we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
