Job Summary

This position is located in the Maintenance Division of The Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority dba EMBARK. 

Essential Job Functions: Responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled construction, installation and maintenance procedures relating to mechanical and electrical components and systems of COTPA facilities. Maintains and repairs all bus shelters and bus routes. Diagnoses, maintains and repairs mechanical, structural, electrical and plumbing malfunctions. Employee will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of buildings as required. This includes but is not limited to painting, maintenance of facility machinery and equipment, carpentry, pm inspections of COTPA buildings and equipment, installation and maintenance of bus stop signs and repair and maintenance of structural framing such as walls, roofs and stairs.

Salary of $30.18 per hour.

• JOB REQUIREMENTS
• • Communicates verbally in English, so as to be understood both in person and by two-way radio.
• • Ability to acquire knowledge of job and occupational hazards and safety precautions required in the shops.
• • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical problems of AC and DC equipment, electrical motors and controls on voltages under 480 VAC and programmable logic and solid-state controllers.
• • Ability to troubleshoot and repair building air conditioning and heat (HVAC) including but not limited to cleaning, servicing and maintaining fans, motors, filters, water towers, coils and pumps.
• • Ability to perform duties independently and with others with little direct supervision.
• • Skill in making accurate measurements.
• • Skill in reading and following sketches, drawings or blueprints.
• • Ability to estimate material and equipment needs.
• • Skill in maintaining schedule demands and project quality.
• • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• • Must be able to comply with strict attendance policies.
• • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with COTPA personnel.
• • Possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License Class D.
• • Knowledge of and skill in following safe working procedures and practices.
• WORKING CONDITIONS
• • Exposure to dust fumes gases, noise and unfavorable weather conditions.
• • Inside and outside exposed to heat, cold, humidity, rain, etc.
• • Subject to working near or around moving equipment or traffic.
• • May require a varied work schedule to include: early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays.
• • Occasionally required to work hours outside scheduled work times.
• • Local travel on a daily basis.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Strength enough to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Strength and coordination enough to regularly climb ladders up to eight feet in height.
• Flexibility enough to frequently bend, twist, and reach to load or unload materials and equipment and to be on unprotected heights.
• Requires medium dexterity, hard grasping, forearm rotational movement and use of foot controls.
• Ability to continuously climb stairs, walk and stand.
• Must be able to use both hands and feet either simultaneously or singly to operate equipment and vehicles with hand and foot controls.
• Vision enough to read blueprints or drawings and to measure, etc.
• Stamina enough to exert oneself physically throughout the workday.
• Mobility enough to continually move one’s body from place to place.
• Speech enough to understand a conversation in a noisy environment, to communicate at a moderate distance and to speak clearly and distinctly in English on the telephone, radio and in person.
• Hearing enough to determine location of sounds and discriminate among various power tools and equipment sounds.
• Job requires use of both hands either simultaneously or singly and both feet are required for foot controls either simultaneously or singly.
• Ability to operate a one-ton vehicle on a daily basis.

NOTE: This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.
