Our Deloitte Strategy & Transactions team helps guide clients through their most critical moments and transformational initiatives. We offer comprehensive end-to-end support and advisory services, covering areas such as valuation modeling, cost optimization, restructuring, business design and transformation, infrastructure and real estate, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and sustainability. The team works closely with clients at every stage of their journey, helping them navigate challenges, avoid financial pitfalls, and implement practical solutions before, during, and after major transformational projects or transactions creating lasting impact.

Work You’Ll Do

Senior Managers in P&CI have many responsibilities including:

  • Advise clients on the complex issues surrounding critical financial and economic events, and high-profile transactions
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies in process and innovative approaches to completing scope of work
  • Plan and lead interviews with clients to understand complex financial and operational situations
  • Lead project work streams, including overseeing and reviewing the day-to-day work of junior staff with oversight from project leadership
  • Develop ad-hoc financial and operational data and KPI analyses as requested by senior team members
  • Create client-ready deliverables and make presentations to clients
  • Build strong relationships with clients and identify areas to expand our business
  • Participate in market-building activities, including preparation of proposal / pitch and marketing materials
  • Assist with the building of internal tools and templates to support our client service offerings
  • Understanding of the key operational performance drivers of a business
  • Ability to extract useful information from data
  • Communicates effectively to all levels of engagement management, professional demeanor, and strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and work objectives
  • Ability to manage aspects of multiple work streams and train lower-level staff
  • Uses problem solving skills to provide alternative solutions to complex issues
  • Ability to assume full responsibility for quality control and accuracy of client deliverables

The Team
Our Performance Improvement & Restructuring (PI&R) practice develops and leads enterprise-level Board and C-suite agendas for clients across the performance spectrum—healthy, underperforming, and distressed—to enhance margins, address financial challenges, and optimize cash flow in support of critical transformation initiatives.

Deloitte’s leaders in P&CI see reducing costs as the key to margin improvement today. Our leaders are doing this by accelerating technology investment and targeting cost-reduction efforts. As part of the PI&R offering, P&CI focuses on rapidly addressing financial pressures and stabilizing our client’s business performance. Our tailored interventions help deliver measurable results quickly. These services include business simplification, dramatically reducing dealer-to-delivery friction, legal entity rationalization, working capital and liquidity, post-M&A transformation (synergy planning and capture), margin improvement and cost reduction, operation model transformation, business model transformation, artificial intelligence and analytics, and global tax restructuring.

Retail, Wholesale & Distribution (RWD) establishments are primarily engaged in the retail sale and the wholesale distribution of a broad range of products. Today’s retailers are confronted by savvy, smartphone-toting consumers and an uncertain economic future. In addition, shifts in the supply chain require wholesale distributors to operate more efficiently. With such significant changes affecting this sector, Deloitte’s RWD practice is well-positioned to assist organizations with tailored services and insights. We advise companies by identifying, understanding, and responding to changing trends, business models, and opportunities in the rapidly evolving retail landscape. Our integrated teams can serve you as you make strategic decisions that can help you thrive in this dynamic market environment.

Qualificationsrequired:

  • 8+ years of experience in management consulting in operations improvement, transformation, M&A integration, or business process reengineering around global cost reduction or development of global growth strategies
  • 8+ years of experience in financial analysis and working with data inputs from multiple sources, to understand value creation opportunities
  • 8+ years of experience in M&A or M&A service delivery experience, or other M&A-related experiences including planning and implementing integration and separation projects as the result of M&A activity, working with clients on Day One readiness and execution proficiency and executing synergy targeting and realization
  • 8+ years of experience conducting operating model fine-tuning and organizational design
  • 8+ years of experience developing models using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visual Basic, or other tools (Tableau)
  • 6+ years of experience in the Retail, Wholesale & Distribution sector.
  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years consulting and/or industry experience
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Preferred:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint)
  • Strong analysis skills (Excel required with other analytics capabilities preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple task assignments in a collaborative environment
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
  • Eagerness to mentor junior staff
  • An advanced degree

This compensation range is specific to Illinois and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $184,500 to $307,500.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
